Scott Hilden's LinkedIn

Scott has worked in Law Enforcement since 1990. He has had developed skills and expertise in many areas over this time. He was a field training officer, defensive tactics instructor, and emergency vehicle driving instructor. A favorite assignment was as a school resource officer. Promoted in 2001 to the rank of sergeant, he worked as a road patrol supervisor.

In 2003, he was selected and assigned to the community relations/crime prevention/crime analysis unit of Canton Police Department. This assignment gave him expertise in data analysis and creating an environment where criminal behavior was less likely. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2006, he worked as a road patrol shift commander until 2008 when he was selected as the department's \'Special Services Lieutenant.\' This assignment brought many new challenges as he was responsible for supervising the department training unit, traffic unit, special event planning, hiring, and the records department.

Having completed his 3-year assignment in Special Services, Scott returned to patrol as a day shift commander until his promotion to Deputy Chief in August of 2013. As Deputy Chief he was in charge of the Patrol Division and supervised over 80 sworn and non-sworn department members. During this time he was instrumental in implementing the department crime prevention strategy using COMPSTAT which is a performance management system to reduce crime.

Scott has had an active role in the Canton Command Officers Association and held the position of Secretary until 2006. At that time, he was elected as the CCOA President and he held that position until 2013.

In November of 2016 Scott was hired as the Chief of Public Safety and Emergency Management for Washtenaw Community College.
