Waste Connections is looking for a safety conscience **Laborer** to join our GROWING team at Turkey Creek Landfill at Alvarado, TX. **PAY:** - $18.00 per hour working 50-55 hours a week. **WHY YOU NEED TO JOIN US:** + CULTURE: It's a Great place to work! **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **:**
-Checking trucks in and out of the landfill and directing traffic at site as necessary.
-Manual labor including paper picking, keeping landfill clean and presentable.
-Perform yard work including cutting weeds.
-Install temporary wind fences as required.
-Perform general office maintenance and repairs including painting and janitorial work.
-Working outside in all weather conditions.
-Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
**WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:**
-Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
-Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
-Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
**MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:**
-Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; work with a sense of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.
-Ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise
-One year of stable employment history in a similar environment.

As a Crew Lead, you will play a crucial role in:
Establishing and maintaining safe work zones using the proper equipment.
Collaborating with team members to ensure the safety of all.
Managing traffic flow effectively with stop/slow paddles.

2+ years previous traffic control experience or lead experience

Position Overview
The General Labor individual manually sorts material to achieve company goals, under the direction of the Operations Leadership Team. Directly reports to the Yard Supervisor and may also receive direct instructions from the Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager or General Manager.

Required Characteristics
Basic reading and writing comprehension in English
Ability to perform physical tasks of the job such as frequent bending, standing, lifting (50 lbs.); expected to request a “team lift” for items over 50 lbs.
Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operation

Key Responsibilities:
Participate in weekly apprenticeship classes, focusing on both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Assist in a variety of tasks alongside skilled craft workers.
Perform measurements and layout work for construction tasks.
