Responsibilities: Water Plant Operations Operate and control treatment plant equipment to purify and clarify water for human or industrial use. Regulate flow of raw water and dosage of treatment chemicals (e.g., chlorine, polymer, fluoride) using electric motors, valves, and automated systems (SCADA/HMI). Monitor filtration and chemical mixing processes, adjust flow rates and pressure, and ensure proper water distribution. Perform backwashing, equipment cleaning, and routine maintenance using hand and power tools. Test water samples for acidity, turbidity, and chemical content using lab instruments. Record operational data and chemical levels. May also operate portable water-purification systems and assist with wastewater treatment as needed. Wastewater Plant Operations Operate and monitor sewage treatment and sludge processing equipment to manage flow and treatment of wastewater. Adjust valves, gates, and controls (manual or remote) based on readings from gauges, meters, and test results. Start/stop pumps, engines, and generators to support various treatment stages (screening, aeration, digestion). Maintain logs of plant operations and meter readings. Direct plant attendants in routine tasks and perform water quality testing using lab equipment. Perform preventative, operational, and corrective maintenance as required. Ensure work areas are cleaned and restored after maintenance tasks are completed. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Possess knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the job. Must possess current certification per WAC 173-230, Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Plants, and additional licensure/certifications as required by the position, state, contract. Understanding safety procedures and ability to work in compliance with OSHA and workplace safety regulations. Operators at Wastewater Treatment Plant may be required to undergo the series of Hepatitis vaccinations. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Public Trust background check, if required for the position. Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community. **Description** JOB DESCRIPTION: + Ensures safe and efficient operation of steam plant boilers (up to 4,000 BHP) and Chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other equipment associated with the steam and chiller plants in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards. + Serves as a back-up to the Manager, Plant Operations, and trains new Plant Operators on the operation of the Emory steam and chiller plant systems. + Operates and controls utility panels that monitor equipment to maintain utility services to the plants. + Maintains and records entries in logbooks, operating logs, and regulatory reports. + Oversees operations associated with an electrical power distribution panel. + Reads and interprets OEM Manuals; reads precision instruments. + Performs minor mechanical piping repairs. + Performs preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with engineering practices on utility systems which include but are not limited to the following: compressed air, CO2, steam boilers, water purification, fuel oil, chillers, and glycol. + Samples, tests, analyzes, mixes and injects chemicals to maintain boiler waterside conditions and blow downs. Inspects the steam plant to check meters, charts, pressures and temperatures. + Ensures a clean boiler room to prevent fire hazards. + Operates hand and power tools. + Takes the necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals and materials and power equipment. + Uses personal protective equipment as required. + Drives utility vehicles to and from work sites and safeguards against vandalism and theft. + Performs other related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in a multi-boiler high pressure steam plant. + Holds a Second Class Power Engineers License issued by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, Inc. (NIULPE). + A working knowledge of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes for power boilers. + Some positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record. + All candidates must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying 50 pounds and be capable of pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds properly. Pay Rate: $20.41/hr + Shift Differential Basic Function (Purpose of Position): To provide support to the operation by cleaning/sanitizing tanks, vessels, containers, utensils. Job Specifications: * Operates cleaning equipment including clean-in-place machines, floor scrubber/sweeper and drum washer. * Cleans (manually or with equipment) tanks, containers, vessels, fillers, utensils, and other manufacturing/processing equipment and the production floor. * Exhibits proficiency in all functions of two of the three skill areas (Small Wash Area, Large Wash Area/Fixed Tanks, Flavors Side). * Maintains neat, orderly and clean shop floor and workplace at all times. * Works in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and adheres to internal policies. * Performs other duties as required. Minimum Education/Experience/Skills/Job Knowledge/: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Up to 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment required. For Dispensing, must have knowledge of metric weight systems/conversions with ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is preferred. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, and crouching is required. Use of foot pedals and typing on a computer may be necessary. Able to climb portable ladders up to 12 feet high and climb stationary stairs to stable mezzanine platform up to 16 - 20 feet high and work from heights. He/she participates in training, problem solving, and addressing issues on the machine. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned) Responsible for training and providing support to team members. Ensures adherence to procedures, regulatory compliance, and environmental health and safety requirements. Suggests changes to equipment and processes to improve efficiency of operations. Set-up for machine operation. Places rolls of face paper and backing substrate on shafts and positions correctly on machine. Turns control dials of machines to regulate speed of substrates, temperature of drying ovens, and flow of adhesive. Operate machine at maximum speed for each product. Check pre-production (set-up) samples for correct pattern materials, web dimensions, etc. Provide test samples, as required, to Quality Assurance. Check materials pre, in process and post production using calipers and rulers. Halt production if found to be running out of specification.
