About the role:
Promotes commercially - approved company products through the regional WCS team. The WM RCA role includes but is not limited to coaching and developing regional WCS team members on the education of current and potential customers, the implant procedure, approved labeling and DFU (directions for use), case coverage within a defined area and driving WM therapy awareness and advocacy. By providing clinical education and sales strategy the WM RCA assists in achieving projected sales goals and increasing sales revenues within the WATCHMAN franchise. The WM RCA will also partner with WCS/TM/ /TAR colleagues and divisional representatives to develop regional accounts to maximize productivity, efficacy, and adoption of the WATCHMAN therapy. The WM RCA will also support field execution and management of Boston Scientific Watchman clinical trials at selected clinical trial centers in accordance with all applicable SOPs.
Your responsibilities will include:
* The WM RCA role is the clinical expert and WCS mentor of the region. This responsibility is driven significantly by a training philosophy, leadership attributes, patient first philosophy, strong work ethic and moral code, respect of and from peers, trust, and accountability to always lead by example.
* As the clinical expert, the RCA is the designated subject matter expert and responsible for development of WCS team though coaching and field rides. The RCA is also responsible for educating the WCS team on new technologies, therapy advancements, process improvements (SWOT) or clinical information that materially impacts the WM franchise.
* The WM RCA role is responsible for the overall regional safety and efficacy metrics that ultimately foster customer and patient trust which in turn advances program growth and expansion.
* Appropriate WCS team deployment utilization and continuous process improvement are primary responsibilities in tandem with the regional manager to drive same-store sales.
* Supports implants, both clinical and commercial, only on an as-needed basis. This support should primarily be in the mentor role and should not exceed 10% of time allocation in the solo WCS role when regional requirements demand.
* Develop WCS team in accordance with region plan, ensure safe outcomes, and help execute clinical trials as needed.
* Educates customers and regional team on the merits and proper clinical usage of LAAC products through presentations and demonstrations.
* Partner in the execution of WM Clinical studies, ensuring WCS team is trained appropriately, follows protocols and applicable SOPs, and drives enrollment in a manner consistent with company objectives.
* Assist Watchman Regional Manager with all meeting development and coordination of calendars for training, cases, and commercial activities.
* Develops relationships with hospital personnel to identify key customers and decision makers to increase sales revenue.
* Serve as the primary point of contact between the Watchman and Medical Affairs for Watchman related activities at symposiums held nationally or regionally including booth activities, live case coverage, and KOL engagement and potential ISRs (Investigator Sponsored Research) opportunities.
* Demonstrate effective change leadership to adapt to an evolving customer base and industry expectations.
* Communicate and drive alignment of corporate, division, regional vision, goals, to execute same store sales growth activities).
* Adhere to, communicate, and reinforce BSC policies, business conduct and quality standards.
Monthly and/or Quarterly Expectations of the WM RCA role (examples include):
* Coaching Field rides (70%-time allocation) - Train and coach WCS team, ensure regional alignment of goals, development of talent and adoption of best practices utilizing RCA Field Ride Assessment tool.
* Weekly - Regional account alignment / procedure support (primary/secondary)
* As needed - TEE/CT case studies / continued learning sessions, webinars
* As needed - Tips and tricks, lessons learned, aborted cases or procedure complication review.
* As needed - Clinical Study updates (progress on Boston Scientific sponsored LAA studies and competitor trial information, etc.)
* Weekly or bi-monthly - Tech Tip - rotate through WCS team for lead
* Quarterly - Recognition WCS summaries (highlight both successes, trends, opportunities, and challenges)
* In-house training resource (1x/month or more) - Be an active participant in both in house training of Watchman personnel and the area lead for field-based training
* As needed - Partner with RCMs to attend clinical study SIV visits, Qual visits etc.
* Monthly - Communicate relevant new publications to WCS team (journal club)
Basic Qualifications
* BA/BS required in related field plus minimum 10 yrs. clinical work experience in Cardiology within the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry (clinical, sales)
* Must be a certified Watchman Clinical Specialist, or similar field support role with documented demonstration of leadership qualities and respect of teammates
* Must have exemplary track record of safety and efficacy with the WATCHMAN device or similar implantable device
* Must have a technical aptitude; be able to discuss & explain complex technical product information
* Must be able to work flexible hours and travel when needed
* Demonstrated leadership/credibility within local team
* Strong business acumen and strategic problem-solving skills
* Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers (including all BSC divisions)
