Project Safe Instructors work Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, and travel to teach the program at two YMCA Centers.

Rewards we offer you:

Pay Rate: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour, depending on experience, and a $500 sign-on bonus

What You'll Do:

  • Teach Project SAFE classes as assigned by the program director
  • Arrive on deck at least 15 minutes prior to class and be ready to start class at the scheduled time.
  • Instruct class participants to take a soap shower before entering the pool.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the area; remove items and equipment when finished or those that need attention to all needed repairs to your supervisor.
  • Follow pool lockup procedures if your class is not followed by another activity. If your class is followed by another group, remain on duty until you are relieved.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

    • You are a minimum of 18 years of age

Groundwater & Environmental Services water aerobics instructor job description

  • Supports and provides classroom and hands-on training to military personnel who operate water purification, storage, and distribution systems.
  • Assists in the execution during live-fire exercises and course field-training exercises.
  • Prepares classroom or training areas and pick-ups and return training devices as needed.
  • Assists in conducting and assessing training participants to identify strengths, weaknesses, and actions to improve performance.
  • Maintains a class status chart and log, which reflects the number of students in training, as well as class progression.
  • Performs operator maintenance on training aids and/or equipment.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of related experience. Experience with the deployment, setup, operation, tear down, and recovery of water purification systems is a major plus.
  • Our ideal candidate will have experience in the operation of Tactical Water Distribution Systems (TWDS) and Water Storage and Distribution Systems (WSDS) that use one or more of the following water purification systems: 3000 Gallon per Hour Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (3K ROWPU), Tactical Water Purification Systems (TWPS), and the Lightweight Water Purifier (LWP).
  • Military experience and / or experience working on a military base is a major plus.
  • Must possess outstanding instructional and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with MS office computer programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

The water aerobics instructor is responsible for instructing safe, effective and fun group water exercise classes, as well as enhancing the quality, growth, and retention of the aquatics fitness program. The instructor creates a positive environment that promotes member's wellness.
Day In The Life of a Water Aerobics Instructor:

* Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group water fitness classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals
* Encourages and motivates participants

* Ensures accidents or injuries are treated and reported
