Watkins College of Art and Design creates an environment where students experience a strong academic foundation while benefiting from a studio-based curriculum. Prospective students will be able to benefit from Watkins' rolling admissions, meaning that whenever an application is completed and submitted is when it will be reviewed by the school. When submitting their application, individuals need to include their official transcripts and test scores, exercises, essays and reference letters. Each program requires specific exercises and essays for applicants to complete in order to be considered. Applications without a program's specific exercise and essay will not be considered. Additionally, this school requires a non-refundable $50 application fee, which is to be submitted with the application. Students who have completed some upper level classes may be asked to submit a portfolio with their application. In addition to tuition, certain majors require an additional fee. For example, film majors need to pay an additional fee each semester, which goes towards extra equipment expenses incurred in the film program. Watkins offers an interest-free payment plan for students who require tuition assistance. Additionally, the school offers need-based and merit-based financial aid through grants, loans, student employment and scholarships. Watkins offers four-year BFA degrees in Film, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Photography, in addition to a BA degree in Art and a certificate in Film. For students looking to enrich their campus life, Watkins offers a study abroad program where students can spend two weeks in places like France over semester break. These experiences are perfect for students who want to learn about other cultures while vacationing in beautiful locations.
