Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician Trainee at the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois. The incumbent will, for a period of time from six and not to exceed twelve months, receives training and instruction and performs entry level, routine personal care services, educational, social, vocational and therapeutic activities in the treatment and habilitation of intellectually disabled individuals at Shapiro Center. Attends formal classes for instruction in routine nursing practices and techniques to gain basic understanding in nature, cause, treatment and habilitation of intellectual disabilities. Ensures compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health requirements when performing duties.
Essential Functions
For a period from six (6) and not to exceed twelve (12) months, receives training and instruction and performs entry level, routine personal care services, educational, social, vocational and therapeutic activities in the treatment and habilitation of intellectually disabled individuals at Shapiro Center.
Receives training in the Interdisciplinary Team process and assists under direct observation, in the implementation of the active treatment/daily activity schedule on the programmatic unit.
Through direct observation, achieves familiarity with each individual's sensory, medical and physical condition.
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly unit by performing general housekeeping tasks, such as spot mopping, cleaning spills, wiping tables and making of beds and lifting up 50 pounds.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.

* Respond to referring sources (police, hospitals, schools, etc.) by phone within 15 minutes and arrive on-site within 60 minutes (urban) or 90 minutes (rural).
* Serve as the designated crisis responder for LAN regions including Kankakee, Vermillion, Will/Grundy, Kane/Kendall, and South & West Cook.
* Complete the Crisis Intervention Intake Packet during each crisis encounter.
* Document all crisis activity in CareLogic within two hours of response.
* Facilitate family reunification, family-generated placement, or short-term agency placement as appropriate.
* Obtain approval from the After-Hours Crisis Supervisor before any placement occurs.
* Provide linkages, referrals, and resource coordination based on youth and family needs.
* Remain accessible by cell phone throughout scheduled shifts.
* Submit mileage, time sheets, and required documentation per agency protocols.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and other landscaped areas of the organization. The role involves performing a variety of tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and weeding to ensure that the grounds are well-kept and aesthetically pleasing. The Groundskeeper will also assist with minor repairs, seasonal clean-up, and equipment maintenance.
Essential Duties
Maintain lawns by mowing, trimming, edging, and aerating as needed.
Plant, water, fertilize, prune, and trim trees, shrubs, and flowers to ensure healthy growth and maintain the aesthetic appearance of the landscape.
Remove weeds, debris, and trash from grounds, walkways, and landscaped areas regularly.
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
Assist with the installation and repair of irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of lawns and landscaped areas.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals to control pests and weeds, following safety guidelines and protocols.
Perform seasonal maintenance tasks, including leaf removal, snow and ice removal, and preparation of outdoor areas for different weather conditions.
Perform minor repairs to outdoor structures, fences, walkways, and other grounds-related fixtures.
Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance needs to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
Assist with setup and breakdown of outdoor areas for special events as needed.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Ability to provide 24-hour on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be available to respond to emergencies or urgent requests during these times to ensure continuity of care/services.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Overview
This classification has a considerable workload functioning at the working level performing children's services youth transportation and related work. An employee in this class serves as a transportation officer responsible for transporting youth safely and securely. Additional responsibilities may include addressing inappropriate youth behaviors, searching youth and state-owned vehicles, ensuring the functionality of state-owned vehicles, completing transportation reports, and more. An employee in this class must be able to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
* Transports youth safely and securely in a state-owned vehicle to various locations (i.e., court, medical, etc) and may be responsible for transporting youth statewide or out-of-state by vehicle or commercial aircraft. Uses mechanical restraints (Delinquent Youth Only) during transport and may require driving a secure vehicle.
* Explains to youth appropriate behavior expectations and ensures compliance. Encounters and corrects inappropriate youth behaviors that may involve aggression, trauma, self-harm, unruliness, runaway, etc.
* Performs searches on youth and state-owned vehicles under prescribed techniques/procedures prior to and after any transport to detect contraband or other potentially harmful items. Provides constant supervision of youth unless directed otherwise.
* Inspects assigned state-owned vehicle to ensure the signals, lights, seatbelts, and other safety features function according to state law and takes assigned state-owned vehicles to designated mechanic/service provider for cleaning and maintenance. Inspects car seats, booster seats, and safety seats to ensure they are clean, operational and within service life.
* Completes all required documentation such as transportation reports for all transports. Maintains mileage and maintenance logs according to procedure. Submits required monthly documentation to include mileage and transportation reports.

Qualifications:
