A Day in the Life of a Human Resources Generalist:
As a dedicated Human Resources Generalist at The Arc Wayne, you will play a key role in Human Resources functions for assigned programs. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, new hire onboarding, employee leaves, benefits administration, workers' compensation, and safety.
Completes all aspects of the onboarding process with new hires: Coordinates fingerprinting and background checks for all new employees and guides employees through the new hire paperwork process. Works closely with hiring Managers throughout the process.
Primary Workers' Compensation contact.
Receives and reviews employee injury reports and works with employee/supervisor/director if additional information is needed. Logs information into appropriate databases. Works closely with Workers' Compensation insurance carrier representative and medical providers
Completes annual OSHA filing, including distribution of OSHA 300A summaries to applicable locations
Primary contact for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), NYS Short-Term Disability, NYS Paid Family Leave, and Long-Term Disability benefits.
Lead on retirement savings plan related to enrollments, deferrals, and distributions. Works with plan administrator and payroll for issues related to processes, deductions, loans, etc.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Affordable Care Act, including tracking hours and sending letters to all employees who become eligible throughout the year.

A Day in the Life of a Residence Supervisor:
Trains, implements and monitors Staff Action Plans, Protective Oversight Plans, High Risk Plans and Behavior Support/Monitoring Plans.

Activities included must be intended to achieve the identified goals or objectives as set forth in the individuals/families individualized service plan, which delineates specific goals that are flexibly tailored to the participant(s) and attempt to utilize community and natural supports. The intent of these activities is to assist individuals and/or their families in initiating recovery, maintaining recovery, and enhancing the quality of personal and family life in long-term recovery.
Essential Functions (Job Duties)
There are 6 categories of peer-support components. Any of the below services can be provided either individually or combined as the care/service plan indicates their need. They include:
Advocacy:
Assistance seeking and obtaining benefits and entitlements, food, shelter, permanent housing.
Assisting recipients in participating in shared decision making.
Use Peer Bridgers to assist with linkages to and systems navigation within behavioral health and allied human services systems to access appropriate care.
Benefits advisement and planning.
Development of psychiatric advance directives (PAD).
Assistance advocating for self-directed services.
Outreach and Engagement:
Companionship and modeling of recovery lifestyle, including participation in recovery activities that might be beyond the scope of treatment providers (e.g., coffee/tea at a coffee shop, attending a court date, attending an appointment, attending or participating in a recovery celebration event or wellness activity).
Raising the awareness of existing services, pathways to recovery and helping a person to remove barriers that exist for access to them.
Interim visits with individuals and/or their families after discharge from Hospital
Emergency Rooms, Detox Units or Inpatient Psychiatric Units to facilitate community tenure and increased readiness while waiting for the first post-discharge visit with a community based mental health provider, treatment provider or appropriate system of care. “Outreach” is a face-to-face service with a patient and/or their family provided by clinical staff or a peer advocate for the purpose of increasing motivation to participate in clinically indicated treatment for chemical dependence. Individuals and/or families identified for this intervention must be current patients who have failed to appear for sessions at the program and are judged to be at risk for prematurely discontinuing treatment or persons transitioning from another Office-certified program.
Self-help Tools:
Assist selecting and utilizing self-directed recovery tools such as Relapse Prevention Planning.
Assist selecting and utilizing the things that bring a sense of passion, purpose and meaning into his/her life and coaching the person as they identify barriers to engaging in these activities.
Assist individuals to help connect to natural supports that enhance the quality and security of life
Connecting individuals to “warm lines.”
Connections to self-help groups in the community.
Peer Recovery Supports and Peer Counseling:
Recovery education and counseling for individuals and their family members.

Individuals in continuing care may receive counseling or peer services once per month.

The Program writer writes a monthly summary note on each person on their case load. Program Writers monitor progress with plans and update as needed, attend all life plan meetings, and represent the person being served.
Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Conduct audits on daily notes to ensure billing requirements are met.
Approve notes that are acceptable for billing in Medisked.
Train/monitor staff on daily data collection and staff action plans in place.
Attend Life Plan/admission discharge, Special ITT meetings and create meeting minutes from these meetings.
Print and file life plan meeting minutes.
Complete monthly notes of the daily data collected.
Create Person Centered Staff Action Plans and residential Individual Plans of Protective Oversight based on each individuals' likes/dislikes and needs.
Monthly observations two times per month/document the observation.
Monitor outcomes through staff action plans, objectives, and assessments.
Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings and other required meetings with staff. • Record all relevant information in appropriate section of Communication Log.
Ensures residents' rights are respected.
Coordinate admission/discharge meetings.
Provide supports to assist each individual with environmental and personal demands.
Ensure staff minimums are always being met.
Complete Medication Certification course.
Ensure that all regulations are followed.
Attend all mandatory training.
Upload needed documents into Medisked.
Print all signed and approved Staff action plans and file them in the black file with the signature page.
Print all signed monthly notes and file them in the black file.
Print all life plans and file them in the black file.
Coordinate community outings for each person serve.
Report any accidents, illnesses, untoward incidents or any other unusual circumstances or behavior to the Team Manager and record the same in accordance with the policy and regulations.
Attend behavioral health appointments.
Other duties as assigned.

Staff will be expected to travel within the programs they are responsible for. There may be times staff are asked to travel for trainings to help out at another site out of the county. If this were to occur staff can submit for mileage from their work site to the destination and back to their work site.
