Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are responsible for operating power equipment and performing related tasks in the maintenance and repair of highways.
Typical Functions
* Operates equipment or heavy machinery such as trucks, tractors, road graders, bulldozers, front- end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semi-trailers, snow removal equipment and other equipment as needed.
* Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
* Repairs failures in the roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
* Repairs and/or replaces signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
* Provides traffic control assistance using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
* Applies herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control weeds and other unwanted vegetation.

Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license at time of employment.

Basic Purpose:

At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving routine duties as a first-level trained security officer in the security, control, and custody of inmates in a state adult correctional center after completion of all statutory training requirements and job orientation. This will include the supervision of inmates in a wide variety of situations and activities, which may include supervising inmate work crews at work sites as well as patrolling yards, cell houses, grounds, and other areas to control the movements, conduct, work and discipline of inmates. Employees at this level are responsible for interpreting and executing post orders.
Corporal
At this level, employees are assigned responsibilities involving routine duties in the security, control, and custody of inmates in a state adult correctional center after completion of all statutory training requirements and job orientation, and one year of experience as a correctional officer. This will include the supervision of inmates in a wide variety of situations and activities, which may include supervising inmate work crews at work sites as well as patrolling yards, cell houses, grounds, and other areas to control the movements, conduct, work, and discipline of inmates. Employees at this level are responsible for interpreting and executing post orders, and will have knowledge of policies, procedures, and field memorandums. At this career level, employees will begin to gain the knowledge, training, and experience required for promotion to the next level.

Special Requirements:

satisfactory completion of a physical in keeping with the conditions of the on an annual basis and along the guidelines as established by the Department of Corrections.
