THE ROLE
The Operations Laborer will be responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient set up and teardown of trade shows, banquets, meetings, performances, and other events. Laborers (in conjunction with custodians) will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the facility including exhibit halls, ballrooms, meeting rooms, Performance Hall, and all restrooms, common spaces, administrative and service support areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set and strike tables, chairs, stages and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Read and interpret event schedules and diagrams and use that information to develop and communicate a task plan for each shift.
Work with peers and direct the work efforts of part-time personnel to accomplish all tasks needed for setting up, monitoring, and changing over events.
Assist in general cleaning and upkeep of all interior and exterior areas of the facility.
Safe and proper use and storage of facility equipment and machines.
Completing necessary paperwork for events and temp staff records
Other tasks and duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: On Site
This position has irregular work hours that include nights, weekends, and holidays as required to cover events and complete tasks in a timely manner. The position is full-time, hourly, with overtime as necessary. This position may be exposed to adverse conditions inside and outside of the facility, including inclement weather, noise, fumes, cold, etc.

To assemble, install and repair piping, fixtures and equipment used in the distribution and drainage of water and water-carried wastes, air, gas, steam, heating water, and chilled water, under low or high pressure.
Responsibilities*
Install, inspect and repair water mains, service lines, sewer lines, air and gas lines, valves, gauges, pumps and fixtures, including sinks, dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, urinals, footbaths and disposals.
Install, inspect and repair steam, condensate, and water lines, equipment, radiators, traps, valves, pumps, gauges, controls, fittings and accessories.
Cut pipe and thread, using threading machine or other mechanical method, and bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
Assemble and install pipe and pipefittings of brass, cast-iron, copper, lead, glass, plastic and other materials.
Join piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, pressed, cemented or welded joints.
Cut or bore through walls, ceilings or partitions.
Test piping systems for leaks using gauges.
Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets and hangers.
Unplug clogged drains, pipes and fixtures using a drain snake.
Install and maintain boilers, and refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and job specifications.
Install, repair and maintain fire protection systems.
Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended.
Required Qualifications*
Graduation from high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current Journey Plumber's license (maintained for the duration of employment in the classification) and backflow certification (maintained for the duration of employment in the classification).
Considerable knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials used in the installation and repair of domestic water, steam, heating, chilled water distribution systems and fixtures.
Reasonable experience in the installation and repair of water distribution systems and fixtures.
Considerable skill in the operation of plumbing and pipefitting tools, power equipment, and machinery.
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in relationships with others.
Reasonable knowledge of plumbing codes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the classification in areas that can be located at high elevations; behind or beneath obstacles; in confined spaces; subject to high heat; underground; in walls or floors; inside or outside buildings.
Working knowledge of underground water mains, drain pipes and associated valves, pits, separators, and structures.
Working knowledge of steam, hydronic, chemical treatment, and other process piping systems.
Ability to observe safety precautions in the operation of tools, power equipment, and machinery.
Reasonable knowledge of the maintenance requirements of steam, heating, chilled water, and domestic water lines, fixtures, and controls.
Must be able to fulfill the requirements necessary to drive a University vehicle
Desired Qualifications*
Current Master Plumber's license.
6010 Medical gas certification (maintained for the duration of employment in the classification).
Fire Pump Test Certification.
4-6 years of fire suppression system experience.
Knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to NFPA 13, 16, 20, and 25.
Knowledge of FM Standards on Loss Prevention.
Functional knowledge of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge sprinkler systems.
Knowledge of proper tool use, principles, methods, and techniques in fire sprinkler pipe fitting.
Reasonable ability to use a computer, including data entry, online research, use of internet, email and document manipulation.
Must be able to demonstrate effective communication and customer service skills with a variety of people at different organization level, including, staff, faculty and students.
Experience with Halon, Carbon Dioxide and other specialty fire suppression systems.
Reasonable knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of Google Cloud technology products (or equivalent).
Excellent organization skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage changing demands.
Working knowledge of steam, hydronic, chemical treatment and other process piping systems.
Working knowledge of underground water mains, drain pipes and associate valves, pits, separators and structures.
Previous plumbing experience in a healthcare setting, maintenance and/or construction experience in all phases of plumbing; residential, commercial and industrial.
Experience working with an automatic work order system.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work well with a teamwork environment.
Desired candidate would ensure plumbing installations meet appropriate codes and standards.
Candidates for this position will need to transport tools, move work cart and travel long distances in large Hospital complex with or without accommodations, and will need to drive a department vehicle where needed for assignments to remote facilities.
This position will require frequent moving and positioning with the execution of daily work duties.

Wednesday - Friday, 6 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday, 6 am - 4 pm
