Doctor White came to Fredonia in 1809 and bears the distinction of being the first educated physician to be licensed to practice in Chautauqua County.
Doctor William Prendergast, only son of Judge Matthew and Abigail (Akin) Prendergast, was born February 28, 1791, at Pawling, Dutchess county, New York and died at Chautauqua in 1857.
