This position supports a 24/7 operational environment and is assigned overnight (Sun-Thu 10pm-6am CT) as part of a standard 40-hour workweek. Initial training will take place during weekday business hours before transitioning to an overnight and/or weekend schedule.
Who you are:
You are an operational meteorologist with 2-3 years of professional forecasting experience, preferably in the private weather sector or another fast-paced, decision-driven environment. You are comfortable monitoring high-impact weather and natural hazards on a global scale and proactively communicating risks before, during, and after significant events. Experience with global weather monitoring is a strong plus.
You have a demonstrated ability to translate complex meteorological and hazard information into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical audiences, including enterprise and executive stakeholders. You exercise sound judgment under time pressure and are confident making independent decisions while knowing when to escalate or collaborate with teammates.

Produce and disseminate timely, high-urgency alerts and assessments that clearly communicate potential impacts to people, operations, and business continuity.
Investigate and validate real-world impacts from weather and other hazards-including wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity-using professional forecasting tools, open-source intelligence, and social media to confirm evacuations, infrastructure damage, power outages, and transportation disruptions.
Collaborate closely with Global Intelligence Analysts to guide impact collection and maintain real-time situational awareness before, during, and after major events.
Support customer-facing communications by contributing to situation reports, briefings, webinars, and responses to customer inquiries as needed.
What you bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
Strong forecasting skills with the ability to clearly communicate threats in plain language
Ability to monitor multiple regions while maintaining keen attention to detail
Familiar with forecasting tools and eager to analyze global weather data while sourcing information from diverse news and open-source channels
Composure under pressure in a fast-paced workflow
Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and communication skills
Excellent writing and real-time news gathering abilities
Willingness to flex hours as necessary based on the needs of the business

Hard work pays off.
AlertMedia is seeking a full-time Meteorologist to join our Global Intelligence Team. This role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and communicating high-impact global weather events and natural hazards, helping customers understand risks to employee safety and business continuity.
This position supports a 24/7 operational environment and is structured as a standard 40-hour workweek. The selected candidate must be flexible and available to work evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts as required. Initial training will be conducted during regular weekday business hours, after which the role may transition to an overnight and/or weekend schedule.
You thrive in a breaking-news, operational setting where priorities shift quickly and multiple threats must be assessed simultaneously. You are highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining situational awareness across multiple regions and hazard types.
You are comfortable contributing to customer-facing briefings and presentations, including webinars with live Q&A, and creating written and digital forecast or hazard content such as alerts, assessments, short-form video, or podcasts. While the role includes media-adjacent responsibilities, it is not an on-air or lead broadcast position.
You are adaptable, collaborative, and self-directed, with the ability to work flexible shift hours with minimal supervision. You are motivated by mission-driven work and take pride in supporting life safety, risk mitigation, and business continuity for a global client base.
What you get to do every day:
Monitor global weather conditions and natural hazards using forecast models, radar and satellite imagery, surface observations, and official products from international meteorological and geophysical agencies.
Identify high-impact weather events and natural disasters that may affect AlertMedia's global customer base, prioritizing threats across multiple regions in a 24/7 operational environment.
While previous experience covering international weather or natural hazards through a journalistic lens isn't required, genuine interest, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spirit will set you apart
Why you'll love working at AlertMedia:
Competitive base salary + Company-wide bonus program
Generous and flexible time off and paid parental leave policies
