The Pipeline Technician maintains and operates crude pipelines, pump stations and all of the associated equipment. Depending on the location such equipment may include pumps, motor operated valves, pressure switches, electric motors, transmitters, vibration transducers, PLCs, electronic controls and pressure regulators. The Pipeline Technician performs mechanical functions and duties of inspecting, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical and electrical equipment in order to maintain high levels of safe and productive equipment performance. * Perform routine maintenance on 2400/4160 vac electric motors from 500-6000 hp including medium voltage switchgear and Toshiba VFD. * Performing or assisting with routine maintenance of pumps and electric motors such as bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, etc. * Maintenance on other mechanical equipment such as block valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc. * Assist with replacement of pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment as needed. * Maintain and operate measurement equipment at facilities and perform product quality control tests. * Participate and successfully complete training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations. * Must meet the requirements of the Company's Operator Qualification program. * Reviews procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements. * Performs remedial and preventative maintenance and maintains facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities. * Perform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment. * Provide training and technical support. * Utilizes precision tools and test equipment as needed. * Responds to operational emergencies as a member of an area emergency response team. * Performs regulatory required inspections. * Monitors crude receipt and delivery activities to appropriate pipelines or tankage. * Launch and receive cleaning pigs and assist with launching and receiving smart pigs. * Troubleshoot/ maintain lact units. Performs applied research including laboratory experimentation and novel technologies development to support the characterization and development of unconventional and conventional reservoirs. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Develop and implement innovative technologies to improve understanding of multiphase flow and formation evaluation of unconventional and conventional reservoirs. Investigate impact of confining effects, complex minerology, flow porous media, and petrophysical properties and integrate understanding at multiple length-scales. Conduct research and stay updated on novel developments in reservoir characterization and development. Research topics to include but are not limited to transport properties, enhanced recovery, fluid-fluid and fluid-rock interactions, and improving formation evaluation in unconventional and conventional reservoirs. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to apply research results to unconventional reservoirs and identify new research needs. Analyze field data including geological, petrophysical, completion and production data as needed. Interface with external institutions for outsourced analyses and collaborative research, and work with commercial vendors for equipment acquisition, support, and upgrades. Prepare comprehensive written reports on R&D activities. Represent AACO at outside technical meetings or conferences. Prepare and deliver presentations to team, management, and visitors, illustrating research problems, results, and conclusions. Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals. Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and broad technical challenges in the research area. Collaborate with other R&D areas within the company to enhance research activities. Develop original and unique approaches to solve difficult and diverse engineering problems. Ensure a safe, accident-free laboratory environment. Follow all company safety and cybersecurity rules.
