What does a web design/development do?

A webmaster is responsible for monitoring website activities for the operating systems and browser database of an organization. Webmasters analyze website traffics and visits and create strategic plans on search optimizations of web servers. They update the features and designs of the system, ensuring the security of the users upon navigation. A webmaster must have excellent knowledge of the technology industry, as well as systems programming, especially on server configuration, improving speed and capacity, and troubleshoot broken links to provide the best user experience.

These skill sets are where the common ground ends though. The responsibilities of a web design/development are more likely to require skills like "ui," "html5," "customer service," and "adobe illustrator." On the other hand, a job as a webmaster requires skills like "web content," "troubleshoot," "web servers," and "site traffic." As you can see, what employees do in each career varies considerably.

A Web Producer is responsible for monitoring the servers' performance and managing web traffic. Web Producers work with the system engineers in designing web features with a user-friendly interface for smooth navigation and transitions. They may also conduct data analysis through surveys to identify opportunities to enhance the site's content and drive more audience. A Web Producer must have excellent communication and technical skills, especially in conducting preventive maintenance and perform immediate troubleshooting for downtimes and system failures.

While some skills are similar in these professions, other skills aren't so similar. For example, resumes show us that web design/development responsibilities requires skills like "ui," "website design," "sql server," and "customer service." But a web producer might use other skills in their typical duties, such as, "web content," "project management," "digital marketing," and "video content."

A User Interaction Designer works with product management to develop and implement innovative solutions for product direction and visuals. They execute all visual design stages.

The required skills of the two careers differ considerably. For example, web design/development are more likely to have skills like "website design," "customer service," "graphic design," and "user interface." But a user interaction designer is more likely to have skills like "visual design," "invision," "usability," and "human centered design."

Also called web engineers or developers, web programmers create web applications. Their job focuses on the non-design factors of web development such as markup writing and coding. They design and come up with websites and take responsibility for their looks. It is their job to oversee the technical aspects of the websites including their capacity and performance. Sometimes, they need to show clients or employers a website prototype to better understand the finished product.
