POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Graphic Designer helps raise Case Western Reserve's stature as a leading national research university by serving as a creator of visual materials across multiple digital and print vehicles. This individual will excel in developing compelling visual approaches that help inform, educate and inspire constituencies within and well beyond the campus. The graphic designer will produce these works in close collaboration with project managers, editors, and others to ensure that all university projects comply with brand requirements, achieve the highest standards for design and visual presentation, and meet the goals of the individual piece(s). This individual also will employ exceptional interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with University Marketing and Communications (UMC) colleagues, university clients and commercial suppliers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Design visually compelling digital and print materials, adhering to strict brand guidelines. Collaborate in the development of such materials with the Art Director, Creative Director and colleagues. Develop designs that advance articulated institutional goals, recognizing that individual artistic or aesthetic preferences must always be secondary. (40%)
* Manage assigned projects to ensure timely completion of work that reflects well on the division and university; including recognition of potential and/or unexpected hurdles (as well as options to overcome them and adjust schedules in response). Execute the logistical and technological demands of preparing materials for online presentation (i.e. online ads and publications), as well as file preparation for printers. (30%)

About The Role:
This position is best-suited for a creative and detail-oriented, graphic designer and web developer. This role is perfect for someone early in their design career who's ready to learn, grow, and support the creation of high-quality visual assets for automotive dealership clients.
As a Junior Graphic Designer, you'll assist in creating digital assets such as web graphics, banner ads, email layouts, and other marketing visuals. You'll work closely with designers, developers, and account managers to produce creative assets - all while learning how to work within brand guidelines, compliance standards, and our internal creative processes.
This is an in-office position with hands-on mentorship, regular collaboration, and strong opportunities for growth.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience in graphic design, or a recent graduate in graphic design, digital media, or a related field with a strong portfolio
Strong understanding of graphic design principles including layout, typography, color, and visual hierarchy
Basic knowledge of front-end web development (HTML and CSS) is preferred, but not required
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Ability to create designs that align with brand standards, compliance requirements, and co-op/legal guidelines

Support the design and development team with asset creation for websites, social media, and email campaigns

Collaborate with senior designers, developers, and account managers to bring creative concepts to life
Prepare and export graphics in appropriate file formats and sizes for web and mobile use

The First 90 Days:
You'll be immersed in learning the creative processes and workflows that drive our design team at Make & Model Marketing. With support from senior designers and our Art Director, you'll gain a strong foundation in how we create effective, on-brand digital assets for our automotive dealership clients.
Shadowing members of our design team and Art Director to observe how creative assets are planned, designed, reviewed, and delivered
Learn how creative tasks move through our internal systems and how to manage project timelines and priorities
Start applying your design skills to real projects with guidance, learning how to adapt your style to meet client and brand expectations
Gain a solid understanding of the design standards we follow, including accuracy, OEM brand guidelines, compliance requirements, and co-op rules
Begin taking ownership of smaller design tasks while continuing to develop your skills and understanding of how design contributes to our larger marketing goals

Qualifications for Senior Web Developer
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or technically related field, or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of 5 years work experience. Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical field with 3 years of experience is also acceptable.
