ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
* Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
* Build profitable business and script growth through recommended clinical programs including appropriate immunization and when available MTM (Medication Therapy Management) and all ongoing other programs as identified.
* Responsible to align performance objectives to the 7 key department metrics that are measurable for effectiveness and efficiencies within your control of the Department. Works with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by helping track weekly sales, may order various pharmaceutical stock in order to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
* Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical-related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
* Supervise the work completed by Pharmacy Technicians and support staff while on duty. Assist Pharmacy Manager to train, coach, and manage Pharmacy associates.
* Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
* Demonstrates open communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the success of our pharmacy is upheld.
* Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department.
* Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
* Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
* Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise.
* Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean and in order. Assists manager with the ongoing training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs.
* Prioritize Pharmacy Department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including, but not limited, to cycle counts, inventory management and will-calls to customers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position includes the supervision of pharmacy technicians and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy, and Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e., APhA).

Job Responsibilities
* Maintain proper inventory levels by submitting on line order, adding and adjusting order points, order quantities and on-hand counts in the computer and assisting manager in preparation of physical inventories
* Maintain a neat and clean work environment to ensure Company and government requirements are met.
* File written prescriptions daily.
* Assist Team Members with tasks to ensure department runs efficiently.
* Review all appropriate service and business metrics and assist team on action plans to improve outcome.
* Perform all regular duties of Pharmacy Technician.
* Welcome and acknowledge patients at all pharmacy entry points immediately and with compassion and a smile.
* Model excellent patient care by respecting, engaging and enthusiastically meeting or exceeding all patient needs including processing orders in person and by phone, directing patients to products and merchandise and referring appropriate questions concerning prescriptions and over the counter medicine to the pharmacist.
* Finalize sales using cash register according to established procedures including the point of sale policies.
* Perform all supporting duties to contribute to the safe and efficient dispensing of all patient medication and durable medical equipment by following all quality assurance policy and procedures including the selection and counting of medication.
* Comply with all Giant Eagle and Pharmacy policies including HIPAA and pseudoephedrine regulations.
* Enter patient personal data and insurance information.
* Enter all prescription information including calculations, free form directions, medication and durable medical equipment specifications.
* Ensure proper documentation for transmitting information to insurance companies, reviewing profiles for appropriate billing choices.
* Alert pharmacists appropriately for drug utilization reviews, calling and resolving third party rejections and rebilling claims, entering and processing refills and adding patients to Refills on Time Program.
* Process medical expense reports.
* Assist in the execution of all company initiatives and programs.
