GENERAL SUMMARY
The Fabrication Technician is responsible for taking an active role in the fabrication department and fabricating glass as required by the production schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for accurately fabricating all glass as required.
Responsible for sorting and staging glass as required.
Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment; cleaning up breakage, disposing of damaged glass, keeping a clean floor area around walking surfaces, keeping station desks clean and organized, etc.
Maintain, clean and organize all cutoff and specialty stock racks.
Expected to participate in any activity requiring additional help, helping and organizing as required.
Responsible for maintaining regular cleaning, repair and general maintenance of the machines and coordinating those efforts with our workload and management.
Expected to be instrumental and responsive to changes in the production schedule as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Fabrication Technician will be OSHA 10 certified.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cutting processes.
Assist in design and implementation of production KPMs.
Assist in identification of KPMs to create a completely accountable, 100% customer satisfaction goal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Act in a safe manner in all activities performed and promote the Safety Program in all processes and procedures
* Ensures all quality standards and requirements are met in fabrication, inspection and packaging tasks
* Adhere strictly to all assembly or fabrication related procedures, work instructions and forms while performing any and all tasks
* Complete all tasks efficiently and correctly as assigned by supervisory and planning personnel
* Complete product rewind activities when assigned
* Follow instructions and manages multiple tasks to meet production deadlines and customer satisfaction
* Report any deficiencies in material, product, or process immediately per current procedures
* Support other manufacturing areas, shifts, and overtime hours as needed to support customer delivery expectations
* Document all production and packaging information as required ensuring that the information is correct and accurate
* Conduct 5S and housekeeping activities as assigned
* Understand and apply the Quality Policy, quality documentation, and company objectives to all tasks assigned
* Act in a courteous and professional manner at all times, within a team environment, ensuring sustainment of Cortland Company's reputation as a world class supplier
* Promote and participate in LEAD (Lean Enterprise Across Disciplines) transformation through application of lean principles to rapidly improve manufacturing and key LEAD metrics

Education and Experience
Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Demands
Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Work completed can be done in seated or standing position. Repetitive fabrication work requires significant hand and finger movements.
Work Environment
Primary work environment is a controlled manufacturing space with specific gowning and PPE requirements. Proper demonstration of correct execution of these gowning and PPE requirements would be required. Stretching is also required periodically as part of the job.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter/HVAC Technician to perform installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical piping systems across commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with various piping materials and HVAC systems, possess a strong understanding of mechanical schematics and blueprints, and be committed to delivering high-quality workmanship in compliance with safety and industry standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems carrying water, steam, air, gas, chemicals, and other fluids in commercial and industrial environments.
Work with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, plastic piping, and other specialized materials.
Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical and plumbing systems to identify and resolve leaks, blockages, corrosion, or equipment failures.
Replace or repair damaged or faulty piping, valves, pumps, and fixtures to ensure system integrity and performance.
Perform routine maintenance to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity of mechanical systems.
Assemble piping using welding, brazing, soldering, threading, grooving, and mechanical fittings with appropriate tools and equipment.
Install and commission mechanical service piping systems including HVAC, chilled water, steam, compressed air, fire protection, and other process piping.
Conduct pressure tests to detect leaks and verify system alignment and compliance with design and performance standards.
Read and interpret piping blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and building plans to guide work.
Coordinate system layouts, installations, and repairs with other trades and construction teams to meet project timelines and specifications.
Basic Qualifications
TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
High school diploma or equivalent.
2-4 years of relevant hands-on experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
Completion of a formal training program in automotive technology or a related field.
Proficient in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as motor analyzers, pressure gauges, and factory manuals.
Ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, and other major automotive systems.
Skilled in using standard hand tools and power tools commonly used in automotive repair.
Working knowledge of cooling systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance practices.
Familiarity with performing routine vehicle inspections and safety checks.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and solve moderately complex mechanical problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or vocational certification in Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles including trucks, buses, and forklifts.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent industry credentials.
Advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
Experience working with both hydraulic and pneumatic systems in industrial or fleet settings.
Knowledge of energy-efficient automotive systems and technologies.
Familiarity with project management principles as they relate to repair timelines and parts procurement.
Demonstrated understanding of quality control standards and vehicle compliance requirements.
