Location: Columbus, OH Employment Type: 1st Shift, Full-time, temp-to-hire Job Brief Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Fabricator for our client. This position operates a variety of machinery and tools within a fire protection fabrication shop to process pipe and related materials. Responsibilities include using equipment such as cold saws, groovers, threaders, grinders, and pneumatic banders, moving pipe along the production line, and operating forklifts as needed.What's a Typical Day Like?
This position performs various duties within a fire protection fabrication shop using a variety of machinery / tools. Additional responsibilities may include operating an auto welding machina (similar to a CNC machine)
Operate machine tools: Cold saw, Groover, Threader, Grinder and Pneumatic bander
Handle movement of pipe along the production line
Use forklift as needed to move product
Completes training curriculum including but not limited to safety requirements while demonstrating an acceptable level of competence as defined by management

What Are the Requirements of the Job?
18 years old
Basic arithmetic skills required using whole numbers and decimals with the ability to read a tape measure in “increments”
Previous welding experience is helpful, not required
Metal working experience preferred, not required
Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.

Job summary:
Must be proficient in all areas of department and all welding procedures as prescribed in AWS and ASME publications for MIG and TIG welding (GMAW, GTAW).
Responsibilities:
* Performs all GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding procedures (all positions), including machine settings, bottles and necessary fittings.
* Welding of stainless steel and aluminum, and set and maintain welding machine (tip, liner changes, etc.) and weld vertical, horizontal and overhead.
* Inspect welds for cracks, burn through and weld spatter.
* Welding of mild steel and aluminum where required.
* Welding of mild steel and aluminum where required.
* Grind and clean area where required.
* Stay current in TPM and basic mechanical adjustments on all equipment as needed.
* Reproduce all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
* Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled.
* Follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.
* Keep equipment and working area clean.
* Maintains all satellite and storage containers in a closed position unless adding or removing waste.
* Familiar with Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
* Knows spill response procedures and evacuation routes
* Ensure that hazardous waste that is handled is placed into the proper container(s).

* Must read blueprints and perform shop math to layout, fabricate and weld various parts and assemblies.
* Knowledge and experience in the use of grinders, sanders, rivet guns, saws and other air tools.
* Ability to read and use measuring devices.
* Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it.
* Previous experience in assembling custom prototype metal components and ability to perform maintenance on welding equipment.
* Must pass and maintain in house AWS Welder Certification.
* Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.

- Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position. May tack weld assemblies together.
- Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Performs welding operations on parts associated with the IK/SGC products using semi-automatic Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-SA), semi-automatic Short-Circuit Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-S-SA), and semi-automatic Pulsed Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P-SA) processes to produce welds in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). May perform sub-component SGC welding when DI .1 is not required.

GMAW equipment, shielding gas mixer, fume extractor, stud welder, flash buttwelder ,threading machine, chamfer machine, belt sander, stone saw, beveller, automated angle iron punch and shear machine, gritblaster, work tables, fixtures, clamps, hydraulic press equipment, wire brush, oxy-acetylene torch, overhead crane, wire cutters, tape measure, rule, square, level, hand grinding equipment, regulators, high pressure gas cylinders, gas mixer, Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC) equipment, hand drill, portable magnetic drill, and miscellaneous hand tools.
MATERIALS:

WORKING PROCEDURE:
* Receives work assignment, print and instructions from Supervisor. Examines work order and print to determine operation required and welding/inspection specifications.
* Operates semi-automatic GMAW welding equipment to weld numerous metal parts together, or to increase size of metal parts as required.
* Places metal parts in position on work table, fixture, or where welding is to be performed. Clamps, assembles or otherwise holds and aligns pads in relative position for welding in the flat, horizontal, or vertical positions.
* Uses prescribed Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Sets voltage, amperage, rate-of-inertgas flow, feed rate, etc. per WPS. May-adjust settings to meet varying conditions.
* Performs structural welds per internal specifications.
* Performs required operating maintenance including torch tip and liner replacement, blow out welding power supply and water circulator with compressed air.
* Wire brushes, grinds or cleans weld as required, removes weld spatter and straightens welded parts/assemblies as required.
* Operates special-purpose equipment and facilities to produce per-order lengths of angle iron, suspension rod, gear rack and angle iron assemblies when so assigned. May enter/change length of punch/shear data offsets using operator control panel.
* Uses torch and/or plasma cutter to cut to length or modify parts.
* Operates overhead crane and/or receives assistance to handle heavy material and parts.
* Cooperates with and receives assistance from other shop personnel in the performance of work functions.
* Inspects own work in process, but work is subject to in-process and/or final inspection by others, including AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI). Stamps/identifies work, records production data, etc., as directed.
