Visual inspections should be performed between passes to remove slag and ensure no rollover is present. The cap must be completed with stringer beads, without weaving, allowing slight oscillation to manage heat and speed. Cap visual inspection must meet the following criteria: Maximum reinforcement: 3/16” No undercut exceeding 1/32” No cold laps, roll over, or visible imperfections at the toe of the weld No slag inclusion, cracks, or porosity If the test plate passes visual inspection, it will proceed to Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for volumetric assessment.
