The Fitter is ultimately accountable for the quality of their workmanship and productivity. Key Responsibilities Perform material take-offs on drawings to determine required cut lengths. Operate pipe/beam cutting machines or, when unavailable, use beveling machines to cut pipe to the necessary length. Coordinate with the Shop Foreman to assign personnel or issue a cut list if needed. Communicate effectively with helpers to ensure the appropriate materials and equipment are prepared for each project task. Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts securely in position for welding. Verify that all materials (pipes, structural components, fittings) match the drawing specifications, including size, rating, grade, project number, and phase. Report any discrepancies to the Shop Foreman. Confirm all measurements, ensuring square and level components before releasing them to the welder. Record pre-weld dimensions on fitter drawings for accuracy and quality control. Transfer heat numbers to drawings and cut sheets upon completion and submit to the Shop Foreman. Ensure all fabricated items are tagged with the correct job number, customer name, and piece number for identification. Transfer heat numbers and job numbers to all material drop-offs and coordinate with the Shop Foreman for inventory or storage movement. Maintain punctual attendance and adhere to the work schedule consistently. Conduct daily inspections of all equipment, including torches, torch hoses, grinders, levels, tapes, etc., to ensure proper function and safety. Keep the work area clean and safe by sweeping and maintaining a tidy environment as needed. Complete and discuss a thorough Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) before each task. Maintain a positive attitude towards customer service and represent ACI professionally at all times. Qualifications and Experience Preferably a minimum of 3 years of experience in piping, vessel, and packaged equipment fabrication.
