This position uses expertise to solve problems and eliminate scrap, rework and downtime while effectively repairing defective products. The appearance of the repair work must be at an acceptable level and meet high quality standards. The Welder is also responsible for making sure all work is done to specification. A successful candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker that utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all quality levels are met. This is a safety sensitive position. Pull, push, or pry steel components into approximate positions for bolting into place. Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed. Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment or materials. Fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors. Dismantle structures or equipment. Welding of separators, glycol absorbers, piping large and heavy wall vessels and flow coils. Must be able to perform quality x-ray welds on a consistent basis. Welding low pressure products such as heaters, reboilers, glycol coolers, liquid accumulators, building skids and natural draft combustors Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions Single hand welding Pipe Fitting Performs other related duties as required and assigned. The Welding Instructor is a full-time teaching position located on the Sheridan campus of the Northern Wyoming Community College District ( NWCCD ).
