Position Description
Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms. This will be completed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.
Job Responsibilities
* Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
* Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
* Weld together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment.

* Must be able to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon (pipe size and material welded varies per site).

The Lead is expected to use independent judgment in
selecting the repair methods, equipment, and materials used to accomplish assignments. Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information, such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required. Inspects work in progress and finished products. Performs other duties as prescribed by Supervisor. Must possess excellent leadership, confidentiality and communication abilities. Must have advanced welding capabilities. Must have advanced blueprint reading and comprehension capabilities. Employee must be able to complete assigned job(s), plan the start and completion of a job as to minimize time and maximize efficiency. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding [Welder, Tack (welding)]. Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment [Welder, Combination (welding)]. May assemble parts by bolting. May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools. Must possess weld qualification for FCAW, GMAW and SMAW. Must be able to operate shop cranes and forklifts. Will be required to use sound judgment when dealing with employee productivity. Will be required to notify Supervisor/Management when there are employee issues to be addressed. The Lead will not be involved in employee discipline procedures unless otherwise approved per Supervisor/Management. The Lead will be required to follow and enforce company policies, safety and quality assurance procedures.

What you will do:
Build t-tops, rod holders, leaning posts, etc. meeting high quality standards and daily production goals
Lay out, measure, and align metal work pieces prior to welding
Assess welds to ensure they are clean, free of error and in accordance with relevant welding codes
Read and interpret weld codes and blueprints
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to address issues

To be considered you must have:
Aluminum tig welder knowledge and experience
Strong fabrication skills
Ability to assess metal structures to identify and initiate repair of damaged welds
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to use small tools, operating air/hand tools, welders, grinders and buffing machines
Close tolerance when measuring; strong attention to detail
