Full-time Description The general purpose of this position is to weld simple to complex components and/or structures while meeting all safety, quality, and schedule requirements. Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to accomplish welding in accordance with customer drawings and specifications. Requirements Proficient in assigned aluminum welding techniques, including weld fillets, gusset toe and wraps, frame wraps and termination Demonstrated ability to weld into corners / vertical intersections with minimal blending Ability to evaluate and correct basic weld pick up, with minimal supervision Basic knowledge in assigned welding techniques Basic knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys and aluminum Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) Working in compliance with all safety, quality, environmental and health requirements. Recognize need for and pre-heat materials as necessary and minimize warpage by proper location of weld and stress relieving methods. Form and shape details, as required. Improvise welding aids such as paper templates, locating devices, holding blocks, etc. * Perform surface preparation of parts such as cleaning, sanding, grinding, polishing and some assembly of parts. Clean and dress welds including the cutting and repairing of unacceptable weld joints. * Check own work for conformance to specifications. Must pass and maintain required certifications. Use all necessary equipment, tools and materials required to perform work as a journeyman. Must be able to climb and weld from ladders, scaffolds roofs, and in pits. Maintain good shop practices. Job Title: Welder Non-Supervisory Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor Job Responsibilities: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts. Weld multiple metal types (Stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized, steel, copper, etc.). Weld small and large components: catwalks, equipment, platforms, etc. for Food Processing Plants. Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job. Maintain and repair all machinery. Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Performs all other related tasks such as flame cutting and grinding. Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to confirm strength and integrity. Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature. Maintains clean work area and stores tools properly when not in use.
