Position Summary:
The Welder works in a fast-paced, results-oriented production environment and is responsible for reporting on a variety of items, including garbage, recycling, yard waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facilities components. This position schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 6:00 pm-4:00 am.
Your Role:
Repairs, modifies, or fabricates a variety of metal w,ork including waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facility components.
Cuts, fits, and welds using gas and electric equipment.
Performs skilled brazing and soldering.
Uses a variety of machines and equipment in and out of repair areas.
May operate heavy equipment as needed.
Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.

**FUNCTION:** Perform routine hand fusion welding, electron beam welding and associated metal joining processes in a developmental or overhaul arena where specific methods and techniques have been established and tooling or other means to hold and locate work is readily available.
**What You Will Do:**
+ Follow detailed directions of leader/supervisor to carry out development, repair and restoration projects for engine parts and tools.
+ Layout work requirements and obtain the equipment needed to perform routine repair and alteration operations.

We have an immediate need for Welder Developmental Overhaul 3rd Shift (onsite)
FUNCTION: Perform routine hand fusion welding, electron beam welding and associated metal joining processes in a developmental or overhaul arena where specific methods and techniques have been established and tooling or other means to hold and locate work is readily available.
What You Will Do:
* Follow detailed directions of leader/supervisor to carry out development, repair and restoration projects for engine parts and tools.
* Layout work requirements and obtain the equipment needed to perform routine repair and alteration operations.
* Perform standard hand and machine welding operations to fabricate or restore parts and tools where close tolerances are not normally required and specifically defined criteria are used.
* Utilize black light process to determine extent of repairs required.
* Build up finished machined surfaces and repair simple cracks and other routine imperfections.
* Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
* Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
* Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as operators check list for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
* Assist others responsible for the new process tryout, and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job description.
* May be required to train for obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.

* Knowledge of hand and machine welding practices include fit-up techniques for fabrication of weldments.
* Understand fundamental principles of electron beam and laser theory.

* 2 - 3 years trades training.

Welding at Electric Boat is performed on a wide variety of materials, using an ever growing number of welding processes. Qualification is required for each process, as welders participate in continuous training in new and traditional welding processes using both conventional and state of the art equipment.
Duties include:
Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during fabrication and installation of submarine construction
Use of pneumatic tools such as grinders, burr tools, wire brushes, etc.
Oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging as well as verifying weld size using weld guages
Reading and interpretation of weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages

Position Summary:
The Compactor Technician should be a motivated worker with welding/fabrication and basic hydraulic background experience. This person will work under general supervision both inside a shop and out in the field to install/fabricate industrial machinery specifically waste compactors and containers with a creative mind for fabrication on unique job sites, diagnose and repair electrical/hydraulic issues on 3 phase compactor electric motors, perform preventative maintenance and inspect equipment in the field.
Your Role:
Work under limited supervision in a team environment and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
Performs installs, removals, fabrication, rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
Performs inspection, diagnosis/repair of electrical and hydraulic systems as needed.
Estimates times and material costs on compactor and container repairs and requisitions of new parts.
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns after hours.
Conducts safety checks on compactors and containers.
Completes required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assists senior technician in the completion of project work.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards and performs all work by established safety procedures.
Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
Maintains reasonable, regular, and punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
