What can you expect?
As the Welder you are a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for performing high-quality welding and supporting general construction activities for STG in extreme Alaskan conditions. This position works in Anchorage and remote rural locations, often for long hours in demanding environments. The Welder follows direction from project leadership, collaborates with multiple trades, interprets blueprints and specifications, performs a full range of welding processes, maintains equipment, and ensures all work meets safety and quality standards.
How will you do it?
Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.
Work closely with a variety of other trades.
Follow directives from Project Foreman, and anyone senior, with the sense of duty to take initiative and remain productive at work at all times while on the jobsite.
Report to Foreman for scope of work to be done.
Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine work requirements.
Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
Perform a full range of weld processes and applies all aspects of weld procedures, including preheat temperatures, electrode selection, welding process, and quality control in accordance with the specific metallurgical properties of the material involved.
Perform all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding.
Ensure welding is compliant to weld specifications; prepare reports and conducts inspections as required.
Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of one's arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials at construction sites.
Work closely with a variety of other trades.
Application of versatile construction skill set to assist other trades to meet project needs.
Submittal of all necessary paperwork to Project Management and Accounting in a timely manner.
Adhere to and perform duties pursuant to the company wide safety plan.
Responsibility to report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safety, ethically and profitably to the company Risk Manager.
Duty to conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job or representing STG.

All around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in construction field.
Knowledge of AWS, ANSI, ASME and API codes.
Advanced knowledge of stick electrode and wire-feed welding machines and associated operating procedures.
Basic metallurgical understanding.
Knowledge of use of various wires and rods used in welding.
Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Ability to safely utilize and care for welding tools and equipment, and welding electrodes commonly used.
Ability to weld in all positions, whether uphill, horizontal, overhead and/or at a 45-degree angle.
Ability to attain any required weld certifications as required for position and project needs.
Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines and general time management.

Who is STG Inc. looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Three or more years' related welding and construction experience.
Certification in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) in accordance with American Welding Society D1.1 required.
Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Company's Driving Policy.
Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience in rural arctic environments preferred.
Working Environment:

The position will require a general knowledge of fabrication including reading and understanding prints, Multiple welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, And a general knowledge of common fabrication tools and equipment. **Responsibilities** + Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
+ Examines weld for size and other specifications.
+ Cleans weld joint or work piece.
+ Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.

**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years Structural Welder/Fitter experience will be considered.
+ Minimum one (1) year experience as a Structural Welder/Fitter.
+ Must be able to pass structural welding tests that will include multi process in 3G and 4G positions.
+ Wire feed flux core experience a must (Equipment used at the Big Lake Facility includes Lincoln Invertec v350 and LN 25)
+ Knowledge of industrial construction and familiarity with all equipment and functions related to the position.
+ Driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under vehicle insurance policy preferred.

As a Welder, you will play an essential role within our Anchorage Field Construction & Maintenance department reporting to the Construction & Maintenance Supervisor. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Weld according to ENSTAR's established welding procedures.
Weld on new and existing pressurized and non-pressurized pipelines.
Interpret drawings.
Layout, cut, fit, and fabricate pipelines, metering stations, compressor station, regulator stations and other related steel assemblies.
Work on projects with minimum supervision that require a high degree of precision, accuracy, and productivity.
Work on projects in adverse weather conditions, under demanding physical conditions.
Use initiative to plan and organize assigned work and to effectively direct activities of other employees to accomplish the assigned work in the most efficient manner.

Perform pipeline mains and service line maintenance (other than welding).

What You Will Bring:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Five or more years of welding experience.
Must be able to pass ENSTAR's multiple qualification welding test (12" branch test per API 1104, section 3.3).
Steel pipeline cutting, fitting, and welding experience on pressurized natural gas or oil pipelines preferred.
Pipeline hot tapping and pressure control experience preferred.
Heavy equipment operation experience (backhoe, dozer, trencher) preferred.
Must be qualified or successfully trained in all covered tasks in the natural gas distribution area including HDPE pipeline installation and maintenance.
Must be able to pass all federally required Operator Qualifications testing.
Possess a valid driver's license and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy. Must be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License after 6 months with proper training.
Must be willing to work overtime as required and be able to work 24/7 emergency standby responsibilities on scheduled rotation.
Must reside within 60 minutes driving time of the Anchorage Operations Center on International Airport Road, and within 30 minutes driving time to the Anchorage Operations Center when on standby assignment.
Ability to pass a drug, background, past employment, and driving record screening.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
Basic knowledge of welding and ability to perform related tasks.
Intermediate knowledge of construction practices, and piped distribution systems; ability to perform related tasks.
Must be able to work safely in general and safely operate equipment used in the installation and repair of mains and/or service lines.
