Role Description: The full-time Registry Apprentice position is ideal for new ODS-Cs with no abstracting experience who would benefit from one-on-one mentoring and training. The ideal Registry Apprentice candidate will meet the following criteria: ODS-certified, Less than 6 months' abstracting experience OR more than 6 months' experience but exposure to fewer than 5 primary sites. Passing score on the Registry Apprentice pre-employment assessment. Knowledge in the use and application of standard cancer registry manuals and resources. Able to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms. Experience with various e-mail and business software applications. Have a true desire to learn in a systematic and collaborative manner. Preference will be given to those candidates who meet the criteria above, and who also have the following: Recent experience in non-abstracting registry work such as casefinding or follow-up. Work Environment * While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in typical manufacturing environment with overhead cranes and forklifts. * Overhead LED lights throughout the workspace create a bright workspace for employees to safely perform their work. * Normally clean work environment where the process creates some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, and vibration. Housekeeping is performed as needed throughout the day and at the end of each shift. * The noise level in the work environment is normal to manufacturing processes with air tools, grinders, and other tools. Yearly audiometric testing is provided by the company to monitor areas for improvement. * Non-climate-controlled facility in the summer, each work area is provided with fans to help keep cool. In the winter it is heated.
