    Job Description:Structural WelderThe Welder Class B is responsible for welding material according to specifications of job orders.This position is deemed safety sensitive due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employees co-workers, and/or the public at large. Pay: $23.00 - $ 25.00 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive and understand welding symbols and select proper welding material needed to finish for fitting, painting, and shipping. Locate pieces approved by Quality Control for welding. Gather equipment necessary to complete the job. Clean welded pieces for next phase of processing. Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations. The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required. Perform non-essential functions as needed. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of two years welding experience required. Must be able to read and comprehend welding symbols and instructions. Must be able to read and understand structural drawings. Must be able to pass a tape measure test. Must have ability to pass an unlimited thickness groove plate test in the vertical and overhead positions using FCAW and SMAW. Must be able to carbon arc gouge the back side of butt joints to sound metal. Safety Environmental Factors:All employees are expected to adhere to the companys safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. This position will also require the construction of trusses for various applications. This position requires participation in both design and production related topics and effective cross functional collaboration with other manufacturing departments, quality, and management. Responsibilities Selects, measures, cuts, and joins appropriate metals to specifications. Prepares metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage. Interprets specifications and blueprints accurately. Regularly cleans and inspects welding equipment and tools. Determines correct gas ratios. Tests the strength of joins during and after project completion. Diagnoses issues and troubleshoots as required. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Supervisor or Manager. Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures. Performs any other duties as assigned or directed by Supervisor as production needs require. Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual. Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience. AWS Certification preferred 2+ years' experience in structural welding. Must have basic math skills. Must be detail oriented, efficient, and able to work under minimal supervision and guidance. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions when furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be computer literate. Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dial indicator, and feeler gauges. Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
