Qualifications 5 years of experience, 3 years welding experience minimum preferred. Familiarity with welding on a rotator, understands fitting up with a rotator in mind. Knowledge of various welding techniques, including MIG and ARC welding processes. Familiarity with TIG a plus. Knowledge of metallurgy. Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques. Knowledge of pipe trade tools (Two-Hole Pins, Center-finders, Pipe wraps, Angle finders) Prior to being hired must be capable of proficiently passing 6G FCAW weld test. Within one week of hire must be capable of passing a 6G GMAW weld test. Also to include SMAW, GTAW, pulse highly desired skills. At 60 Days after being hired, employee must provide his/her set of hand tools. ( Hammer, pliers, channel locks, sockets, tape measurer... etc.) At 90 days after being hired, is able to meet productions goals. Receives minimal supervision, coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. This is where the pipe is welded in a flat position on a pipe rollout machine. If candidates don't feel they can pass the 6g FCAW weld test, please ask them if they've ever welded on a roll out and if they can pass this test. I am including some additional information about Metal Core (MC). This should help you better understand how it differs from FCAW, as well as the weld test specs. It should be included on your submittals as 1G Rollout GMAW-MC in the same section as our existing testing info.. If they want to take the 6g and 1G make sure to include them both and this will be scheduled in 4 hour allowances to complete both tests. . 1G (Rollout) GMAW-MC (Metal Core) Test 1G means the pipe is positioned horizontally and can be rotated while welding. Think of it like spinning a soda can while trying to draw a straight line on it. GMAW-MC (Gas Metal Arc Welding - Metal Core) is a type of wire-fed welding that combines aspects of MIG (metal inert gas) welding with flux-core welding. It offers deep penetration and good weld quality. A well established, 70 year old worldwide custom manufacturing company is looking for multiple senior level TIG welders for permanent placement in their temperature controlled shop in Arvada, CO on either 1st or 2nd shift. The Welders will play a crucial role in the welding of components for use in industrial pump and compressor systems, which are custom engineered and built for oil and gas, chemical, hydrogen energy, and other growing industries. All prints will come from the in house engineering team. TIG welding will be done primarily on 1.5" diameter schedule 160 or 80 piping, and can go up to 8" diameter Schedule 160 full penetration welds on Stainless Steel and high nickel metals such as Inconel.
