ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. As required, the Apprentice Welder will also be tasked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean‐up and preparation, mobilization, and demobilization to and from the jobsite, scaffolding erection, general tank construction tasks and other duties as assigned. This role is intended for May 2026 college graduates who majored in an applicable field. This is an entry-level position that does not require previous experience but does require completed education in the particular discipline. This is where the pipe is welded in a flat position on a pipe rollout machine. If candidates don't feel they can pass the 6g FCAW weld test, please ask them if they've ever welded on a roll out and if they can pass this test. I am including some additional information about Metal Core (MC). This should help you better understand how it differs from FCAW, as well as the weld test specs. I'm happy to answer any additional questions you may have. This will be a 2 hour weld test for Energy. It should be included on your submittals as 1G Rollout GMAW-MC in the same section as our existing testing info.. If they want to take the 6g and 1G make sure to include them both and this will be scheduled in 4 hour allowances to complete both tests. . 1G (Rollout) GMAW-MC (Metal Core) Test 1G means the pipe is positioned horizontally and can be rotated while welding. Think of it like spinning a soda can while trying to draw a straight line on it. GMAW-MC (Gas Metal Arc Welding - Metal Core) is a type of wire-fed welding that combines aspects of MIG (metal inert gas) welding with flux-core welding. It offers deep penetration and good weld quality. A well established, 70 year old worldwide custom manufacturing company is looking for multiple senior level TIG welders for permanent placement in their temperature controlled shop in Arvada, CO on either 1st or 2nd shift. The Welders will play a crucial role in the welding of components for use in industrial pump and compressor systems, which are custom engineered and built for oil and gas, chemical, hydrogen energy, and other growing industries. All prints will come from the in house engineering team. Demonstrates ability to efficiently weld and inspect basic products meeting quality standards. Reads and interprets simple blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings. Performs basic welding equipment maintenance under occasional or regular supervision. Processes intermediate math and safety knowledge; understands foundational weld symbols. Willing and able to follow instructions, learn new tasks, and work as part of a team. Shop Welder-2: Includes all Shop Welder-1 qualifications plus: Builds on Shop Welder-1 responsibilities with more complex welding work performed independently. 3+ years of welding and metal processing experience (FCAW, MIG, in multiple modes of transfer). 3G certified required; must obtain 6g welding certification before advancing to Shop Welder-3. Proficient in welding and inspecting medium complexity tickets (including light metals) meeting quality standards. Reads and interprets blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings independently. Independently performs routine maintenance on welding equipment. Applies intermediate math including some trigonometry and geometry. Mentors Shop Welder-1's. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Proactively collaborates with team members to meet production goals. Understands continuous improvement initiatives and is willing and able to make contributions. Shop Welder-3: Includes all Shop Welder-2 qualifications plus: Senior-level welder responsible for complex welding projects, structural fittings, and team leadership. 5+ years of welding, metal processing and structural fitting. Expert welding, inspecting advanced complexity tickets (including light and heavy structural metals) meeting quality standards. Reads and interprets advanced blueprints and manages job requirements independently. Performs and troubleshoots welding equipment maintenance. Mentors Shop Welder-1's &2's. Applies advanced math including trigonometry and geometry. Leads, mentors, and develops a team of up to seven (7) welders. Manage performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery and productivity) and recommend process improvement to enhance performance. Regularly communicates order status and production updates to leadership. Demonstrates deep understanding of welding codes, standards, and quality assurance. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams to effectively resolve complex welding-related challenges. Actively supports lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas. Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations. Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch. Work in all types of weather. Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools. Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
