Your New Role
As a Welder/Fitter in Salem, OR, you'll be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling structural steel components for utility and communication projects. You'll work with round and tapered shafts, using GMAW and other welding methods. Your day will include reading blueprints, cutting and fitting material, inspecting for quality, and maintaining a clean and safe shop environment.
Daily Responsibilities:
Interpret detailed drawings and specifications
Cut, fit, and weld steel using GMAW spray transfer and other processes
Conduct plasma and oxy/fuel cutting
Fabricate specialized fixtures and components
Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and accuracy
Perform equipment maintenance and assist in shop operations as needed

2. Operate air arc to remove steel (back gouging).
3. Grind with 90° angle grinder.
5. Read weld symbols and check weld size using weld fillet gauges.
6. Heat material to required temperature using temperature sticks and heating torch/cutting torch.

7. Set machines according to procedure charts.
8. Use air chipper to chip of slag.

What You'll Do
As a Welder Fabricator, you will be responsible for:
Performing MIG/Hardwire welding and Fluxcore welding
Completing occasional TIG welding as needed
Grinding and deburring metal parts using handheld grinders and palm grinders
Operating shop machinery including drill presses and press brakes
Removing parts from laser cutting machines and burn tables
Tack and spot welding components as required
Reading tape measures and interpreting basic fabrication instructions
Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment
Supporting production goals with consistent, high-quality work
What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Prior welding experience (required)
MIG and Fluxcore welding experience; TIG experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical shop tasks

Job Description
SUMMARY The primary function of this position is for lays out, fits and welds fabricated components to assembly structures forms, such as machinery frames, tanks, and parts according to prints and knowledge of welding metallurgy. Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal shrinkage and welding techniques. May operate other equipment such as overhead crane, forklift, high lift, crane truck.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include all or some of the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Welding and fabrication of 316L SS tanks
QualificationsAt least five years experience in welding and fabrication environment. Welding and fabrication of Tank building is a plus. TIG, MIG & Stick Welding skills preferred.
