Main Purpose:
To perform job functions required and assigned in iron fabrication as steel structures per the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards. This position is located Offshore in the Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico.
Essential Functions:
Study engineering drawings to determine materials requirements and task sequences
Read and interpret blueprint and specifications
Perform mathematical calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles, etc.
Measure, cut, fit, and install structural/pipe plate, pipe material, beams, plate, pipe, etc., per blueprint and job specifications
Locate and mark workpiece from drawings cutting lines, checking for material thickness, welding shrinkage, and other component specifications
Straighten warped or bent parts using sledges, hand torches, and straightening procedures
Follow fitting procedures and principles used in fabricating offshore jackets, decks, heliports, production facilities, etc.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools
Lays out and installs piping, equipment, and other mechanical systems in compliance with construction drawings and specifications
Inspect work sites for obstructions or holes that could cause structural weakness
Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares and measuring tapes
Know how to pull coordinates to find pipes and get measurements
Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Environmental Conditions:
80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas, etc.)

Fabricate and modify metal parts and assemblies from blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.
Conduct pre- and post-weld inspections, including visual and dimensional checks, to ensure compliance with FAA, military, and OEM standards.
Repair corrosion, cracks, and structural damage on aircraft components using heat treating and stress-relief techniques.
Operate welding equipment, grinders, and cutting tools safely while adhering to lockout/tagout procedures.
Maintain detailed records of welding activities, material usage, and quality assurance documentation.
Support disassembly and reassembly of aircraft parts during major overhauls.
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot welding-related issues and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or associate degree in welding technology preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a welder in an aviation or aerospace environment.
AWS Certified Welder (e.g., D1.1 Structural Welding Code) or equivalent certification; aviation-specific certifications (e.g., NAS 410) a plus.
Proficiency in reading technical drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Knowledge of aircraft materials, heat-affected zones, and non-destructive testing integration.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with military aircraft (e.g., F-18, C-130) or rotorcraft.
Familiarity with FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention and lean manufacturing principles.
Strong safety mindset with OSHA 10-hour certification.

The Welder/Fitter - Level 2 is responsible for performing welding processes accurately, using drawings, specifications, and verbal instructions under general supervision and for selecting the welding procedures and materials that are best suited for the job to ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner.
Specific Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of welding tasks in the fabrication of parts and the repair of equipment.
Operate various cutting torches, welding & automotive equipment.
Set and operate metal inert gas (M.I.G.) welding machines and oxygen-acetylene torches.
Weld and repair equipment.
Operate precision machine tools to exacting tolerances.
Perform mechanical repairs on automotive equipment as required.
Repair and perform light maintenance on buildings, grounds, and/or related facilities as required.
Create a wide variety of parts from shop drawings that conform to specifications within acceptable time frames.
Move and position raw materials and finished goods by use of pallet jacks and/or forklifts.
Support and participate in the organization's continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.

Requirements
Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED.
Welder qualification.
Forklift Operator card.
Ten (10)+ years of experience in welding.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of all safety practices associated with welding, cutting and mechanical work.
Ability to read and understand work orders, sketches, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to weld and fabricate new equipment and parts, as well as broken existing equipment.
Ability to use grinders, welders, cutting torches, drill presses, pipe threaders, and other basic mechanical tools.
Ability to FCAW fabrications as directed.
