Receive work assignment from Group Leader and Supervision. 2. Read and follow safety regulations and procedures and weld symbols. 3. Setup equipment by setting amperage, voltage, pressures, feeds, and speeds within limits specified and obtaining specified electrode. 4. Position and operate manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment to deposit single and multiple layers and weld in all positions at joint locations specified where care must be exercised to produce quality welds with uniform penetration. Location of parts is determined by others or by fixtures. Load and clamp material in fixtures against fixed stops. 5. Operate carbon arc torch to remove weldments from floorplate or strongback and braces from weldments. 6. Operate handling equipment to lift, move and position material. 7. Sign off operations completed and obtain first piece and final inspection signoffs on operation sheets as required. 8. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition. 9. Make proper time charge entries and record data as required. 10. Maintain in effect certification for welding ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys and take and acceptably pass periodic working tests. 11. Identify parts in accordance with method specified. Perform Work of equal or lower skills level as required. Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Day to Day Duties: Performing arc and torch cutting and gouging. Using generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools. Welding plate with 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick (SMAW), flux core (FCAW), and submerged arc automatic machines (3 o'clock and “goat”/tractor). Using come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment. Using tank shell buggies, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment. Performing vacuum box tests, oil tests, dye penetrant tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations. Using gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment. Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment. Knowledge of crane operations (including rigging and signaling) Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings. Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks. Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training. Follow directions and work professionally with other crew members. \ Other duties as assigned. Requirements Have great communication and organization skills. The ability to solve problems and suggest improvements to our systems. Have excellent attendance and show up to work on time every day. The willingness to learn. Be at least 18 years old. Be able to lift 50 lbs. Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Be eligible to work in the United States. Be willing to authorize background checks. Have no criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism. Have a valid driver's license. Be willing to authorize motor vehicle driving record checks. Be willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing. Ability to weld is a plus. Silver brazing jobs included. · Compare kit with BOM, 3 view, isometric, or other prints details, report discrepancies to Production Control · Check all part dimensions compared to print before welding · Assure best condition of machine, tooling and fixture. Maintain minor repairs and cleaning by the operator, report damages defects and wear to supervisor and maintenance dept. · Weld parts to print and required standards · Check all welds if possible by sight pipe for penetration, discoloration, contaminants, uniformity, straightness, size, neatness to customer specifications and to insure quality · Make appropriate time and data entry for all work completion on routing sheet and bar code system. · Measure completed jobs to meet print specs by using appropriate tools · Good knowledge of blue print reading · Adhere to welding codes · Maintain safe and clean workplace · Keep area free from contamination · May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
