Working at our Cincinnati Aviation Component Service Center:
Our ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs - including rotating parts, complex assemblies and nozzles on 29 different engine models.
Role Overview:
Perform layout, set-up, and weld on a variety of aircraft engine component parts and assemblies.
Working from planning or written instructions, prints or sketches. Fabricate, repair or rework using all required welding and cutting processes which may include manual arc processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, TIG) semi-automated weld processes (GTAW, PAW, LW, EBW,), machine weld processes (RSW, Dabber,) and oxyacetylene welding.
In addition, may use oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, flame brazing/soldering, TIG brazing and arc brazing.
Use argon chambers and gas back-ups.
Fabricate heat sinks and related items to perform individual weld operations. Using file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal and manual dimensional restoration.
Achieve certification on required processes.
Ability to bench, planish, peen, roll, forge, stretch/shrink to restore dimensional and structural integrity on various engine hardware.
Use all types of measuring instruments.
Perform fluorescent dye penetrant as required, maintain associated paperwork, work to required levels of quality and efficiency.
Direct or train others and perform related duties as required.
Interact with engineers with the design of tooling and repair process on repair development projects.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
5 years verifiable GTAW Weld experience including reading various measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometer, while working from prints, sketches, planning instructions to weld a variety of parts and assemblies
Preferred Qualifications:
Previously held weld certification(s) in corrosive resistant and heat resistant ferrous alloys, nickel base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys.
Previous welding and fabrication experience on aircraft hardware.
Ten years or more verified GTAW experience
Ability to fabricate, repair or re-work using processes listed above; use of argon chambers and gas back-ups.
Proficiency in the fabrication of heat sinks and related items for performing individual weld operations
Demonstrated ability to use files, bench grinders, and various hand and power tools, etc. to restore areas repaired to required dimensions
Experience with fluorescent dye penetrant.
Weld schooling certificate (1 point)
Additional Information:
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 40 pounds will be lifted with assistance.
Must certify within 8 hours per base material group as required and periodic certification thereafter
Ability to learn and operate material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain forklift license as required.
Must be able to pass welding skills demonstration test
Must pass the eye requirements per AWS D17.194

Use TIG Processes to weld stainless/carbon steel piping and or structure for process/utility piping in food processing plants
Perform installation of all components of piping systems
Draw and interpret isometric drawings and prints
Determining the required tools, materials, and welding procedures.
Cut and thread pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders and benders
Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications

Uses tape measures, squares, protractors, rulers, and other measuring tools to lay-out, position and align accessories and subassemblies in preparation for the robotic welding process.

* Cleans and resets work area at the end of each shift, including but not limited to sweeping the floor, placing items in the proper storage area, stacking pallets, restocking packaging, and dumping trash.
* Accurately updates all records and visual tracking, whether written or electronic.
* Cross-trains as directed and is willing to work at any production position in the plant, on a as needed basis.
* Completes work as directed by plant management.
* Uses/Operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as welding machine power sources, wire feeders, welding guns, air carbon arc gouging, oxy-fuel equipment, plasma cutters, angle grinders, needle guns, plate clamps, etc.
* Interprets engineering shop fabrication drawings, fabrication standards, sketches and other specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations.
* Inspects subassemblies and accessories visually and dimensionally to verify these meet the required specifications.
* Uses tape measures, squares, protractors, rulers, and other measuring tools to lay-out, position and align accessories and subassemblies in preparation for the robotic welding process.
* Loads and offloads the robotic welding cell.
* Inspects weld applied in the robotic process and applies all required welds the robot couldn't apply.
* Uses the proper sequence of operations to execute assembly and welding of the parts as effective as possible, also to maintain/obtain the required geometry and to prevent distortion of weldments; when needed, uses jacks, turnbuckles, wedges and other tools to correct distortions.
* Prepares joints and applies weds as per applicable WPS and fabrication shop drawings.
* Cleans welds and adjacent areas removing spatter, slag, silicon islands as per welding code, applicable standards and customer specifications.
* Visually inspects welds to ensure compliance with shop fabrication drawing and acceptance criteria in applicable welding codes.
* Marks or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks.
* Lift or move materials and finished products, manually or with hoists or cranes.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:
* High School diploma
* 2 Years of welding experience
* Welder Qualification (will need to pass a qualification test as per AWS D1.1 for unlimited thickness in the 2G position).
* Certified Robotic Arc Welder Operator
* Current Certification on Crane and Forklift (if applicable)

This role involves working in environments that may be loud, non-temperature-controlled, and exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Employees frequently interact with machinery, moving objects, and vehicles. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or crawl. This role requires the use of a Powered Air Purifying Respirator, PAPR.
