Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Uses spot welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
Unites pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turns valves to release mixture.
Reaching expected temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and adjusting flow of gas and air.
Preheats work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
Fills holes or corrects mistakes in lead pieces and makes bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
Checks the weakness of work pieces and measures work pieces with straightedge or template to ensure the piece meets specifications.
Climbs up ladders or works on scaffolds to take apart textures.
Gives signal to crane operator to lift large work pieces.
Uses thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
Uses hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools to place and protect work pieces.
In order to protect the torch chooses place of weld based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
Instructs and brings flame or electrodes on or across work piece to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal.
Joins pieces together, covers up taut points, and adds metal to develop parts.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Testing
Any Production Welder must be given a weld test so that TMF can gauge the extent of their skill. This test will be administered by the Weld Shop supervisor or their designee. This test is pass/fail. No employees will be allowed to weld without passing a weld test.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue print, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematic skills. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Welder Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Receive and understand welding symbols and select proper welding material needed to finish for fitting, painting, and shipping.
* Locate pieces approved by Quality Control for welding. Gather equipment necessary to complete the job.
* Clean welded pieces for the next phase of processing.
* Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
* Ability to travel to various locations, potentially including other states, to support shutdowns.
* The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
* Perform non-essential functions as needed.
Welder Qualifications:
* Minimum of 1-2 years' welding experience required.
* Must be able to read and comprehend welding symbols and instructions.
* Must be able to read and understand structural drawings.
* Must be able to pass a tape measure test.
* Must have ability to pass an unlimited thickness groove plate test in the horizontal or vertical and overhead positions using FCAW and SMAW.
* Must be able to carbon arc gouge the back side of butt joints to sound metal.
Welder Physical Demands:
* Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently.
* Considerable amounts of overtime and weekend work may be required.
* Excessive amounts of bending and stooping to weld in difficult positions.
* Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment.
