Side Tack-Up - Tack weld parts onto body sides; measure to determine proper alignment. Use over head crane to remove from table
Side Weld-Out - Weld parts that have been tacked. Weld appearance is very important.
Hoist well installation - position top mount and hoist well sides into position; tack weld parts to front gate and floor according to order specifications; measure to ensure proper fit; weld assembly
Tailgate Tack-Up - Starting with basic tailgate, tack weld parts according to order specifications; measure to ensure proper fit;
Tailgate Weld-Out - Using jib boom, move tacked tailgate onto fixture. Complete welds. Weld appearance is very important. Move completed tailgate onto roller bed.
Latching tailgate and Dump Apron Installation-Install latches per order specifications; latch to order specifications; Install dump apron to order specifications and weld.
Qualifications:
Educational: High school diploma or (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Familiarity with welding process. Demonstrated ability to operate MIG welder, with or without training.
Skills: Demonstrated ability to operate equipment, with or without training; ability to read and interpret a tape measure, ability to understand measurements and angles, and read and interpret orders.
Other: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in fast paced environment.

Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding applying proper welding techniques.

Job Description
An Ingalls Pipe Welder is responsible for performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. The shipyard environment is an around the clock manufacturing setting. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Welder may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards. T ypes of metal materials with a variety of welding processes; the most basic of which are, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding" and Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) also known as "wire welding."
Basic Qualifications
Must have either two years of Pipewelder experience or be a graduate from a pipe welder program at a vo-tech school or other training school.
Program must have training in TIG root and stick fill and cap on steel piping in the 6GR position.

Position Summary
A Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and products using various welding techniques and equipment. This role involves setting up parts for welding, utilizing hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures to ensure precision and quality. The Welder interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to execute work accurately. Key tasks include welding, cutting, grinding, and finishing metal surfaces to meet specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
Notifies Team Leader when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
Performs other related duties as assigned including Machine Operation.
Perform Quality Control and process all required documentation.
Perform Prep work and grinding.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Hands on experience in welding and fabrication applications: cutting, welding/brazing, drilling, marking/engraving, welding of dissimilar metals a plus.
Proficient in welding safety, weld filler selection, weld processing parameters, fixturing.
Familiarity and experience with metallurgy, weld joint analysis, backing gas applications.
Strong cognitive and clear communication skills which emphasize attention to detail.
Self-motivated, with the ability to lead projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem-solving ability.
Be able to work independently and unsupervised while prioritizing tasks.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:
Receives and checks parts lists from department supervisors for parts to be welded/assembled daily. Manually operates welding equipment to assemble products on Container, Small Container, VIP, Baler, A-Pad Mounting, Small and Large Packer, M-1000, Special Products, dewatering units, and Final Cleaning Mate Lines. Examines parts and measures dimensions for conformance to blueprints specifications using tape measure. Chips or grinds out holes, bubbles, or cracks in parts preparatory to filling with weld. Cleans grease or corrosion from parts, using wire brush or grinder. Camps broken metal parts together with jig/vice and welds pieces using gas-welding process according to type and thickness of metal. Receives parts from Fabrication Department and welds into sub-assemblies. Welds sub-assemblies into final products. Visually inspects parts during welding process to ensure quality. Records and maintains inventory of parts used on lines daily. Completes inspection form on products and submits to Technical Service Department. Manually transports metal parts up to 40 pounds to/from storage area daily. Performs minor maintenance duties on welding equipment. Includes changing tips, gas diffusers, gas lines, rollers, etc. Observes all safety regulations and reports any unsafe working conditions to supervisor. Performs other various duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.
Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.
Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.
Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.
Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills and general hand tools and to record written information.
Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.
Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.
Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
