WELDER Welders in McGregor, TX, will work to build structural and/or fluid systems to support various testing campaigns in Central and South Texas. The test will include an open root with a maximum 1/8” opening. GMAW-S will be used in the downhill direction to fill the root, followed by feathering for a hot pass using FCAW. FCAW 1/16" will be utilized for all passes from the hot pass to the cap in the 6G uphill position. Visual inspections should be performed between passes to remove slag and ensure no rollover is present. The cap must be completed with stringer beads, without weaving, allowing slight oscillation to manage heat and speed. Cap visual inspection must meet the following criteria: Maximum reinforcement: 3/16” No undercut exceeding 1/32” No cold laps, roll over, or visible imperfections at the toe of the weld No slag inclusion, cracks, or porosity If the test plate passes visual inspection, it will proceed to Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for volumetric assessment.
