The Aluminum Extrusion Welder is responsible for welding aluminum components and assemblies used in extrusion-based products. DEPARTMENT: Tube Mill SUPERVISED BY: Tube Mill Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES: Turn on welder and operating stations for de-coiler and accumulator. Operate a forklift and overhead crane. Load de-coiler with material for accumulator to pull in. Make sure welders, de-coiler and accumulator are set to run. Check label, coil thickness, and width for material conformity. Enter coil labels into Kiosk then apply to a sheet and turn in at end of shift. Scans the coil into the tube mill machine using the Phoenix Bridge. Keeps track of weight needed to fill the work orders. Notifies operator of any mislabeled coils or shortages with slit coils. Before butt-welding insure both ends are joined and flattened properly. MUST grind every weld! Watch for tail-out of coil and alert mill operator if accumulator supply is low. Fill accumulator then set to mill match. Monitor Accumulator to ensure mill can attain maximum speed. Give instructions to other mill workers as needed. Assist on change overs for minimal downtime between production runs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area for weekly inspections. Work with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment operation and uptime. Other duties as assigned. . Select appropriate wire, shielding gas, and parameters for the material and application. Ensure welds meet production and quality standards, including appearance and structural integrity. Assist in setup and maintenance of MIG welding equipment. Spot/Resistance Welder: Perform resistance spot welding operations on sheet metal assemblies. Maintain proper electrode alignment, pressure, and timing to ensure consistent weld quality. Monitor equipment for wear and performance issues, performing basic maintenance as needed. Work in accordance with production schedules and maintain high safety standards. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent, technical training, or certifications are preferred. Experience: Proven experience in one or more welding processes relevant to the specialization. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Required Skills: Basic PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Knowledge of weld symbols, tolerances, and metallurgy basics.
