As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines, while also accommodating dietary restrictions. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
Coordinate the daily menu by thawing and preparing frozen meat.
Minimize food waste and utilize leftovers within mandated timeframes.
Clean equipment, dishes, and work areas, restocking and cleaning the cafeteria.
Communicate with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs.
Maintain a positive attitude towards clients and assist with tracking supply needs.
Prepare food for special events as requested and document any changes.
Give at least 4 hours notice if a scheduled shift needs to be missed.
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of one year of employment history.
Basic understanding of nutrition is beneficial.
Additional Qualifications:
Must provide evidence that incumbent is free of infectious and contagious disease, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter.
Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Successful completion of First Aid training is required.
Successful completion of ServSafe Course.
Obtained Hepatitis A vaccination prior to handling food products - required for all St. Louis area staff.
Physical Requirements:
This job requires heavy physical work, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
It also requires significant walking or standing, or sitting while using arm or leg controls, or working at a fast pace with constant pushing and pulling of materials.
The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, use their hands, reach, talk, hear, and have good vision, including close and distance vision.
They should also be able to navigate stairs.
