    **Full-time, Days** **80 hrs/2 weeks** **8:00am-4:00pm** **On call rotation once a week** **Weekend rotation every 6 weeks** Works collaboratively to facilitate a stable and smooth operation of the program and provides therapeutic interventions in accordance with best practice guidelines, client treatment plans, and policies; performs a variety of client care, case management and administrative functions; and completes details of the discharge plan and makes modifications in order to facilitate the successful discharge of clients. **Duties and Responsibilities** **Essential Functions:** + Assists in developing and executing individual treatment plans for clients. + Provides day-to-day oversight of all therapeutic activities. + Provides individual, group, and family therapy utilizing a wide range of techniques designed to treat mental illness, emotional problems, social and interpersonal problems, and functional deficits. + Maintains an awareness of significant client history, present status, and any precautions in effect. Collaborates with other staff to provide input into treatment plans for individual clients. + Orients family members to nature of therapeutic services and the specific program. + Increases other family members understanding of client needs and progress. + Promotes positive family relations, especially effective parental strategies. + Exhibits clinically appropriate relational (e.g., accurate empathy, active listening) skills. + Manages behavioral crises including 1:1 observation, redirection, physical restraint and team crisis interventions. + Writes behavioral management plans for acute patients in cooperation with treatment team recommendations. + Completes assessments as needed. + Assists with medication administration and recording as directed. + Communicates relevant client progress and participating in weekly treatment team planning. + Maintains on-going professional relationships with personnel from schools, public agencies, and mental health and drug and alcohol treatment facilities. + Addresses and resolving client funding matters. + Conducts inter-agency meetings as necessary. + Collaborates in appropriate treatment and discharge plans with client, guardians, and community agencies. + Provides transportation in a WellSpan Philhaven vehicle to and from the program for clients that meet requirements and are in need of transportation. **Common Expectations:** + Demonstrates leadership through collaboration with other team members, maintaining positive solution-focused communication, taking initiative, leading by example, demonstrating open and consistent communication, understanding of diagnosis and clinical interventions, and investing in the development of growth of staff and the program. + Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned client population. + Assesses and interprets client age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. + Establishes and maintains positive therapeutic relationships with clients. + Demonstrates commitment to clients, visitors and other staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations, identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety, and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. + Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. + Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. + Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. + Attends scheduled meetings as required. + Maintains proficiency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) principals of de-escalation. + Computer and keyboarding skills at a level normally acquired during business school training. + Complete documentation according to established standards. + All other responsibilities as assigned by the program director. **Qualifications** **Minimum Education:** + Bachelors Degree Meets the definition of a Mental Health Worker under PA CODE 5200.3 (i) Has a bachelor's degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA in a recognized clinical discipline including social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation or activity therapies.(ii) Has a graduate degree in a clinical discipline with 12 graduate-level credits in mental health or counseling from a program that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA.(iii) Has an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the AICE or the NACES. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency. Knowledge of current activities, therapy principals and group counseling skills/techniques Required **Work Experience:** + 1 year Behavioral health experience. Required or + 1 year Social science experience. The goal of the Adult Unit is immediate stabilization through medication, milieu participation, and individual & family therapy sessions for clients experiencing emergent mental health symptoms. Adult Services provides care for a range of client conditions: these include acute exacerbations of chronic psychiatric illnesses, thought and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, dementia disorders, dual diagnoses of substance abuse/mental illness, mental retardation with psychiatric decompensation, serious suicide, or elopement risks. The plan of care is individualized to meet client needs as much as possible and may include any of the following modalities: individual group, family therapy, therapeutic groups, activities, and psychoeducational groups. The focus of care is on behaviors which brought the client to the hospital. **Extended Acute Inpatient Department** : The Extended Acute Unit also serves clients aged 18 and older, but with a typical length of stay of 3-6 months. This program serves adults 18 years and above who have demonstrated a severe and persistent mental illness, evidenced by a behavioral health diagnosis or constellation of symptoms. This unit is designed to serve the chronically mentally ill with the goal of decreasing recidivism. The plan of care is individualized using the Recovery Model to assist clients to move to a less restrictive level of care within the community. **Child & Adolescent Inpatient Department:** The Child & Adolescent Unit accommodates clients ages 4-17, with a typical length of stay of 7-10 days. The goal of the Child & Adolescent Unit is immediate stabilization of emergent mental health symptoms through medication, milieu participation, and individual & family therapy sessions. Inpatient psychiatric services are provided to clients approximately 4-18 years of age on the Child/Adolescent Unit. **General Summary** Assists the professional staff in the care of psychiatric patients.
