Wenger Manufacturing company history timeline

1935

1935 Our grandfathers Joe and Lou found the Wenger Mixer Company in the midst of the infamous “Dust Bowl” that ravaged American farms.

1945

In 1945, Wenger is back in business with Joe leading sales at Wenger Mixing and Lou pioneering machinery at Wenger Manufacturing.

1954

Wenger Corporation struggled through the early years and rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1954.

1955

Lou Wenger and Oak Smith visit in Lou’s office during a Wenger Open House in 1955.

1964

By 1964 there were over 40 products in the Wenger catalog and the company celebrated its first million-dollar year.

1970

Jerry inherited his father's imagination for product innovations and when he took over as president in 1970, he brought something else to Wenger -- a keen ability for solid, strategic corporate growth.

1985

1985 NASA and the American Institute of Baking approach Wenger to solve experimental food for animal testing in space.

1990

In 1990, the Space Shuttle launches with Wenger-made “rat bars.”

1992

When Jerry turned over the presidency in 1992 the company had celebrated $32 million in sales and the Wenger line was over 100 products strong.

1995

Founder Joe Wenger passes away, and is followed in 1995 by his brother and lifelong collaborator, Lou.

1995 also sees the passing of their trusted team member Oak Smith.

2008
