I love providing great customer service and working there afforded me the opportunity to do that daily

We were aggressively pushed to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. There was no such thing as work/family life balance. Also great customer service wasn't as important at the drive thru. Plus you had to work at least a full five years before you became eligible for paid vacation and if the franchise changed hands you lost the time towards the required 5 years and had to start all over again.

Not that many perks to be honest. As crew your basically under paid for very hard work

Only 1 perk that I had was working for a wonderful manager who made everyone feel good about them selves. Her name was adrienne harris harris of BK Carrols Corp mentor on the lake. She was the best ever.

What was the biggest food order you ever handled at one time from a customer, either via the ordering counter or at the drive-thru?

In drive through someone ordered 60 cheeseburgers. We made them park and come inside and wait and gave them a 10% discount

Isnt it aganist the rules to ask to hug people? A bk employee asked me this and I thot it was weird.

No there is nothing wrong with hugging people. An employee came up and randomly asked if they could give you a hug? That is odd, but they do hire all kinds of people.

How to get out of this spiral of minimum wage miserable jobs?

Apply for jobs. All jobs. If you want out you're gonna have to start from the bottom. If a place has minor experience required include a cover letter discussing you're willingness to learn. And don't just apply for jobs you think you'll love; apply for jobs that are better than fast food or offer better career progression. Getting out is easy. Just apply apply apply!

What is the most disgusting thing you've seen happen behind the counter that customers would never think happens?

I've seen food dropped on floors that was picked up and served. I've also seen just how filthy the fryers can be.

how many employees did you know of that used drugs? were you friends with any of them?

Most of them. Only work friends I didn't associate with them outside of work. I've never done drugs. Ive never even drank honestly. I'm just not into it. Our managers were cool with employees going out to the dumpster area and smoking weed on break because it helped them work faster and be more focused.

Any experiences with thieves, people who fill water cups with sodas, steal orders, etc?

Yes. Sometimes the person at the window would hand the food or set it there before they take the money and people would book it out of there as soon as they got it. filling your water cup with soda is the easiest thing to do and we only had one manager who cared enough to watch for that.

Any funny customer stories? Did you get close to the people you worked with? Did y'all have any inside Burger King jokes?

When I first started I got pretty close with some people but the turn-around rate is so incredibly high in fast food that in 1 month I had tenure in the kitchen and there were only a few people there longer than me and that got to the point you could look at someone and pretty accurately say how long they would last till they quit so eventually we had employees who I didn't even bother to learn the names of. Ive seen 2 car accidents in our drive through. Someone who ate inside when he left he left his tray on the table and took his fries and wrote, "*** U" on the tray with French fries. Some guy tried ordering beer in the drive through and when you talk on the drive through mic it actually broadcasts in the kitchen too so the people making food and can a headstart on making your food before they punch it in the register and when he started screaming and cussing at the girl on headsets it was so loud that all the customers eating inside could hear every word. I locked one of my friend on the roof of the building once and he tore his pants getting down and had to get new ones lol. We did many things that most places would have fired you immediately for.

How much free food do you get?

I got as much as I wanted. Really though employees only get a 50% discount but if you come in 2 hours early or stay 2 hours past your shift you get a free meal. I had tenure and was next in charge below management so they didn't really care what I did or got.

Do people ever come up to order and instead sing the "Hold the pickle, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us" song instead?

No one has ever sang their order at the one I worked at. We did have people try to order things like beer before though and we had a customer once who literally threw his messed up burger at the girl working register.

Used to work there as well. Great experience. Do you co workers do drugs while working? I noticed this happened quite often and it was extremely uncomfortable

A lot of people come in high lol (I happen to be one of those people) and I've only seen two people pop pills while on the job.

Is there some sort of celebration or award or anything for being there a year? What about 5, 10 etc

YUM! brand has an award for every 5 years of service. they send you a plaque and a catalog that is tiered out and you pick something in your tier. I'd rather them give a bonus to employees. I'm assuming other fast food chains do the same.
