West Coast University history

West Coast University was then incorporated at Panama City, under article 19 of law 32 of 1927.

In 1981, the university reorganized into three distinct colleges: the College of Business and Management, the College of Engineering, and the College of Letters and Sciences.

The result was bankruptcy in 1996.

In May 1997, American Career College bought the name and the responsibility to provide transcripts for ten years, from the bankruptcy trustee.

In 2004, the trustees decided to develop another “educational outreach program” to use the WCMIT infrastructure to establish West Coast University in a favorable Christian Country on the recommendations from members of International Academic Council.

A branch campus in Orange County opened for classes in September of 2007.

An additional branch campus in Ontario, California, began offering classes in November of 2008.

West Coast University chose Henry Schein to design a new dental hygiene teaching facility in its Anaheim, California campus which opened its doors on 13 April 2009.

In 2011, the university achieved institutional accreditation through the WASC Senior College and University Commission.

The Master of Science in Nursing program achieved CCNE accreditation in 2012.

In the fall of 2013, the University opened its Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program at the Los Angeles Campus.

In 2014, the MSOT, DPT and PharmD programs were launched.

In 2015, WCU launched the 100% online, 12-month RN to BSN, 24-month RN to MSN and 24-month MSN programs.
