West Cornwall Pasty company history timeline
The West Cornish Pasty Company was launched in 1998 by Ken Cocking, a serial entrepreneur, along with his sons, Arron and Gavin, and Mark Christophers.
After nine years, Cockings sold the company to its management for £40 million in October 2007.
In April 2014, the private equity house Gresham, the owners of the company, put it into administration, blaming its failure on the government's decision to charge VAT on pasties.
After studying journalism and working on national food magazines, he joined Great British Chefs in 2015 and has travelled the length and breadth of the UK to interview chefs and photograph their beautiful plates of food ever since.
Chough Bakery in Padstow won the Cornish Pasty World Championships (yes, that’s a thing!) in 2016 – so it’s no surprise they make delicious pasties! Try traditional ingredients or alternative twists, such as steak and blue cheese.
Endless sold the business in 2017 to Samworth Brothers, who already owned the Ginsters pasty brand.
