Essential Job Functions: Oversees all activities associated with the general ledger, including but not limited to, reviewing and approving accounts payable, payroll, student accounts, fixed assets, cash management, investments and revenue entries, account reconciliations, and journal entries Manages, supervises and trains assigned staff and monitors work in progress, reviews job performance consistent with department and university goals Supports the CFO by providing tactical administrative and managerial advice and evaluates related proposed solutions and internal proposals Manages preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for management's use Manages internal and external audits, and prepares audit documentation and GAAP financial statements Works collaboratively with Human Resources to manage 403(b) and 457 retirement plans, and the self-funded health plan Oversees grant and contract accounting in accordance with regulatory and other guidelines Coordinate all regulatory tax filings including IRS Forms 990, W-2s, 1099s, and 1098-Ts Responsible for contribution accounting, including endowment and net asset accounting Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and is expected to meet or exceed such standards Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU Other duties as assigned RequirementsEducation:• Required: Bachelor's Degree• Preferred: Master's Degree Experience:• Required: Eight to ten years of progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in accounting, management, and supervision• Preferred: CPA Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong computer skills, including Excel, accounting, and reporting software; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to successfully lead others; ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow; ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; ability to schedule activities and/or meetings; and using critical thinking skills, continually reviews department processes to improve efficiency and customer service.
