What to expect: The Polaris Materials Engineering Internship is designed to provide real world experience in our world class materials lab. Our 12-week program allows you to have exposure to multiple facets of engineering to help you develop and define core areas of interest and strengths. Your assignments offer value-added deliverables that have a direct impact on developing new lab capabilities. You will have the invaluable chance to bring your education to life through real world project work at one of the most dynamic companies within the power sports industry. Through your experience you will have opportunities to expedite your knowledge of the business, develop innovative solutions to real business challenges and build a network of Polaris employees. As a Materials Engineering Intern, you will: Set personalized goals and projects targeted at driving the Materials Engineering and Testing department growth. Lead and drive at least one large project focused on technology and process development or improvement. Develop skills in failure analysis and fractography including the use of tools like SEM and Xray. Gain experience with metallurgical lab work including material characterization, optical microscopy, mechanical testing, and report writing. Get exposure to non-metallic analysis through failure analysis and characterization techniques such as FTIR, TGA, and DSC. Expand your knowledge in materials and processes and their use in recreation vehicles. Learn how components and assemblies used to build vehicles are validated. Be located in Wyoming, MN product development center. Potentially qualify for both financial housing assistance and relocation reimbursement Intern responsibilities include: Transportation to/from office Securing housing for the duration of the internship Required Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering Minimum overall GPA of 3.0, preferred Able to complete full 12-week internship working 40 hours per week (May/June-August 2025) Familiarity with metallurgical laboratory equipment, materials processing such as heat treatment, forging, metal stampings, plastic injection molding, die-casting processes Proven strength in the following areas: analysis and creative problem solving, communication, interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, and leadership The drive to actively learn while contributing to both personal and company-wide goals through creative and innovative thinking This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Previous Internship/Co-op experience Previous leadership experience in work, organizations, or classroom The starting pay range for Minnesota is $23.50 to $25.50 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
