Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to improve the uptime of the plant and improve efficiency of the machinery and processes. This position also helps drive new ideas, systems, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the site.
What you will do:
Conduct and coordinate investigations of machine failures, including analyzing failure mechanisms and implementing solutions to improve reliability.
Work with the maintenance teams to identify work practices and other opportunities to prevent machine failures.
Develop, implement, and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance routes.
Implement best practices for lubrication, including the selection and storage of lubricants.
Analyze plant data to identify areas of focus for the maintenance team, areas of opportunity to reduce downtime, downtime trends by department and machine center, and other opportunities to improve plant performance.
Training of the maintenance team to improve skills and knowledge
Redesign machinery and other components when necessary to improve plant reliability and lower operating costs.
Utilize the mill's computerized maintenance management system to manage lubrication and other maintenance activities.
Assist in the planning and execution of maintenance activities.
Develop and maintain effective systems for improving plant reliability.
Apply technology such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive techniques to improve the mill's reliability program.
Identify other opportunities across the site to improve efficiency, lower cost, and reduce waste.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you should have:
Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or similar Engineering Degree or a strong combination of experience and education
Relevant experience with industrial manufacturing equipment and / or trades experience is an asset.
Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in working with applications developers, IT and other technical domains
Experience in communicating and presenting data and technical concepts to audiences with varying backgrounds
Self-directed and motivated.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to adapt and thrive in a collaborate team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Power Point, Maximo.
Previous industry experience is preferred

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Senior Commercial Process Engineer - Compounding/Blending (Formulating) is responsible for the development, continuous improvement, optimization, and technical support of manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products, ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Key responsibilities include the hands-on leading technology of transfers, troubleshooting deviations, performing process validation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality, efficiency, and safety throughout the product lifecycle. This role will be an integral member of the team that develops and brings new products to market, as well as drive process improvement for current products.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process Improvement & Optimization:
Analyze commercial process monitoring data to identify trends, conduct technical investigations, and implement engineering solutions to improve yield, quality, and efficiency.
Technology Transfer:
Directly lead or support the transfer of new products and processes from R&D or other sites to commercial manufacturing, including conducting gap analyses and risk assessments.
Validation & Documentation:
Author and execute validation protocols for process validation, cleaning validation, and equipment qualification. Develop and maintain essential technical documentation, including user requirements, SOPs, and reports.
Troubleshooting & Deviation Management:
Investigate technical issues, lead Root Cause Analyses, and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) for deviations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and Project Management teams to achieve project objectives and ensure successful process implementation.
Compliance & Regulatory Support:

Equipment & Engineering Support:

QUALIFICATION:
Engineering Expertise:
A degree in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
Familiarity with compounding and processing liquids, creams, ointments, emulsions and aerosols.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) and data analysis, with strong technical writing and presentation skills.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of GMP and other relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to conduct technical investigations and lead problem-solving initiatives to resolve complex manufacturing issues while operating within project completion deadlines.

* Develop, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) strategies for OSD equipment, including granulators, fluid bed dryers, tablet presses, coaters, dust collection systems, and packaging lines.

The experience we're looking for

The Reliability (ACE) Engineer provides asset maintenance, reliability, and outage scope guidance and are in charge of overall area asset care. They are the liaison between production and maintenance, engineering and third-party subject matter experts for plant reliability and increasing equipment availability and asset capacity utilization (or OEE). Lead Engineer within the Operations/Production Department and provides organization, planning, and direction for maintenance, reliability, production/capital improvements, and technical documentation for the assigned areas.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Ensures the principles of Asset Care Excellence (ACE), including the technical means for safe operation and compliance programs, are applied to all aspects of the work, as detailed below.
Ensures/supports that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and that such programs are operated in a safe and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
Carries out pareto analyses of maintenance costs and/or repair frequencies and use existing analyses of OEE losses to identify bad actors and develop measures to improve or replace the assets.
Leads or takes part in cross-functional teams, e.g. Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Teams, Investigations, or Equipment Improvement Teams.
Prepares and submits to the Operations Manager monthly reports summarizing the status of major maintenance and reliability activities and their on-going capital projects.
Leads the Capital project input and budgeting process for his/her area of responsibility.
Executes maintenance work orders - assuring work order quality metrics are met as well as assuring operators are entering work orders in JDE for all non-optimal issues in the plant. Set the weekly/daily maintenance scheduling priorities. Work to drive down emergency work orders and call outs.
Leads and coordinates Root Cause Analysis investigations for all bad actors and significant reliability incidents. Responsibility for follow up - assignment and tracking of corrective actions.
Manages all areas of mechanical equipment related maintenance not being covered by the Mechanical Integrity program, including on-plant, workshop, inventory, clerical, and planning activities as well as maintaining/improving the necessary documentation (e.g. specifications, equipment documentation).
Co-ordinates plant changes, both equipment and facilities, which require engineering input, which are requested by Maintenance or Production, or other departments acting within LSB Industries.Co-ordinate plant changes, both equipment and process, which improve plant OEE, yields, equipment, reliability, process quality.
Ensures that prompt and effective reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents is carried out by the Engineering and support staff. Take part or take over the team lead in the investigation of accidents or significant incidents in the assigned areas (Root Cause Analyses).
Improves/develops a reliability strategy based on the business needs, e.g. (ACE), to make sure that maintenance, Turnaround and Capital spending is mainly focused on the most relevant equipment and moving towards a proactive approach. This position is an exempt position and the range for this position for New York City, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area-based roles is $138,000.00-$179,000.00For New York state (outside New York City), Washington state (outside Seattle), California (outside the San Francisco Bay Area), and Colorado-based roles, the anticipated base salary range for this position is $103,000.00-$150,000.00

Key Responsibilities
Co-lead the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Quality Pillar (QPC).
Promote and adhere to all safety standards in lab and plant environments.
Manage document and data control processes.
Administer the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) program as required.
Lead data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis initiatives.
Maintain the Material Review Board and manage nonconforming materials.
Track and report monthly quality performance metrics.
Monitor and improve processes related to customer satisfaction.
Lead and process corrective/preventive actions within the plant.
Serve as an internal ISO 9001:2015 auditor and support annual audits.
Conduct Gage R&R studies and capability analyses.
Understand and apply customer-specific quality requirements.
Co-lead Product Conformity Audits and maintain documentation in DCT.
Conduct annual product testing and manage customer certifications.
Oversee raw material certifications and incoming material data entry.
Coordinate outsourced testing and UL certifications.
Manage collection and shipment of sales samples.
Administer AIMS setup, label databases, and quality document systems (e.g., Qualtrax).
Support other quality projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Chemistry (required)
3+ years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing setting
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Able to thrive in a global, cross-functional team environment
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality systems
Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and world-class manufacturing tools
Experience with rubber processing (mixing, curing, extrusion, foaming) is a plus
Proven leadership and project management capabilities
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
The expected compensation range for this role is $80,000.00 -$95,000.00.
The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience, and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
