The West Michigan Whitecaps have been in the Grand Rapids, MI, suburb of Comstock Park since the 1994 season.
Since 1994, the West Michigan Whitecaps have provided affordable family entertainment for nearly 11 million fans.
The 'Caps had a spectacular first regular season under the Tigers umbrella, going 92-39 in 1997, but failing to get out of the first round of the playoffs.
Upon their move to Comstock Park, the Muskies became the West Michigan Whitecaps and moved into the newly built Old Kent Park, which took the name Fifth Third Ballpark in 2002.
In September 2019, Grand Rapids/Comstock Park was named “Top Minor League Market” in the United States by Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal.
The Detroit Tigers announced the West Michigan Whitecaps are in line for a promotion of sorts, becoming the big- league club’s Advanced A affiliate beginning in 2021, after spending 24 seasons as their Low A designee.
