The population at West started with 655 students and has reached over 1400.In 1966, the students named their new school Cherry Creek West Junior High.
Seventh, eighth, and ninth graders attended school until the fall of 1971, when the ninth grade was moved to the high and the school became Cherry Creek West Middle School.
In 1977, the building on South Penn was opened as Moore West Mid High for 9th and 10th grade.
When Westmoore opened in 1988, Moore West became Moore West Junior High for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade.
