Annual Tool and Boot Allowance Annual Safety Bonus Paid time off after 90 days Competitive Pay and Benefits *Position Title: *TechLevel I Tractor/Trailer *Position Reports to: *Shop Manager *Position Summary: *Under general supervision, conducts preventative service and accurate maintenance and repair on tractors and trailers as requested. Essential Functions: \* Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment in order to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety. Performs quality and accurate maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers as work orders are given; diagnosis problem areas and needed maintenance; repairs and replace brakes; ABS system diagnosis and repairs; engine and transmissions diagnostics, air conditioning diagnosis and repairs. DEF and DPF diagnosis and repairs, air brake chambers diagnosis and repairs, wheel bearings, wheel seals, dollies, doors, door seals, lights, tractor and trailer body and tires; installs and repairs satellite units; installs cameras; diagnosis and repair the lane departure system; aligns axles as needed; and minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel. * Maintains organization of shop; follows proper shop procedures according to management; assists other shop staff members with maintenance as needed; and performs various ground and property maintenance as needed. Maintains a clean and organized work area; follows all company Safety policies. Works in a safe and efficient manner. 4. Assists drivers with various questions that may arise concerning tractor/trailer repair; and directs drivers to necessary department as requested. 5. Participates in departmental training involving updated repair procedures, safety awareness and equipment changes. * Performs other related duties as requested. *Necessary Qualifications: *High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of Fleet Maintenance experience Required. Ability to read and write work orders; and possession of Roll Tool Chest and hand tools required. *Physical Qualifications: * * Ability to lift 70 lbs and apply 20 lbs of force constantly to pull, push or lift constantly. * Exposures include: various noise levels, vibration of the extremities or whole body, and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases. * Ability to perform crouching, stretching, high reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, and squatting while performing job duties. * Ability to stand, walk and meet the above requirements on various surface areas and conditions. *\*\*\*Steel toe boots are required for this position.* The above statements reflect the general duties of the position and describe the principal functions and may be adjusted according to the business environment as seen fit by management. Under general supervision, preplans trucks based on availability, deadhead mileage, drivers' needs, and transit times; coordinates relays between drivers to help with driver's needs while ensuring freight delivers on time; manages trailer pools and trailer utilization in set regions; performs other related duties as assigned. *Essential Functions:* 1. Works with Customer Service Representatives to determine which freight tenders to accept and decline based on truck availability; preplans drivers in their assigned regions based on availability, hours of service, deadhead mileage and transit times; plans freight based on the priority of the customer's needs and driver's needs in the most efficient way possible. 2. Coordinates local deliveries and pick-ups using Hub/ hourly/ over the road drivers to ensure service is met. 3. Arranges with Driver Managers, the appropriate loads for each driver based on the driver's needs, hours of availability and transit time of loads; coordinates relays between drivers to help with driver's needs while ensuring freight delivers on time. 4. Oversees trailer utilization and allocation within assigned regions; positions trailers strategically by region to maximize usage and balance trailer pools between drop locations; informs Planning Lead, Customer Service and the sales department on drop trailer utilization to determine cost efficiency. 5. Responsible for minimizing deadhead, maintaining good driver utilization, maintaining good trailer utilization, directing CSR's on which freight works best for any given day, solving problems brought to them by Driver Managers, Customer Service Representatives and other Planners with the company's best interest in mind. 6. Communicates with customers any information that is requested or any questions they may have as needed. 7. Performs other related duties as assigned. *Necessary Qualifications: *At least two-years' experience in over the road transportation Customer Service, Load Planning, Dispatching or related transportation Operations field; excellent analytical skills, excellent organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with others highly desirable; two years post high school education or military experience preferred; experience using AS400/ AOS preferred. *Physical Qualifications: *Sitting, talking on the phone and entering data into computer for extended periods of time.
