PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position conducts assignments for the Safe Drinking Water (SDW) Program within the Northwest Regional Office. Here, you will learn how to review and analyze technical engineering information surrounding the activities of the Safe Drinking Water and Water Allocation Programs. You will assist in conducting field inspection duties for new or modified public water supplies requiring a permit from the department, in addition to assisting in the review of construction permit applications, permit transfers, and engineering plans and specifications associated with public water supplies for conformance to engineering principles and regulations. You will learn how to provide technical assistance and engineering consultation during field inspections and provide technical input in resolving problems with water plant operations during emergencies.
Additional skills which will be acquired involve providing training to field sanitarians on technical subjects such as corrosion control, cross-connections, taste and odor control, water chemistry, facility design, and permitting; learning how to serve as a witness during enforcement actions within the SDW Program; and assisting communities and water industry representatives in securing loans or grants for water system improvements through various state and federal aid programs.

This opportunity is for a part-time/as needed Residential Program Trainee to assist individuals in a residential setting with self-care skills, activities, safety practices, and socialization skills towards living full and independent lives in the community.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position serves as a part-time/as-needed Residential Program Trainee in the Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Program. The CRRS is a residential setting in the community for consumers with chronic psychiatric disabilities. This position assists in developing individual service plans in a residential setting. Participate in the planning and implementation of educational and recreational activities in accordance with the individual's plan. Assist individuals to learn self-care skills through teaching and role-modeling skills based on their individual needs, which may include personal hygiene, nutrition, daily living skills, and safety practices. Assist individuals in developing skills towards living independently in the community, such as problem-solving, effective listening, conversational skills, interpersonal skills, good manners, and outcome action planning.
Recreational and in-home activities may include exercising, socialization activities, organized team-building activities, etc. This position provides direct care by assisting individuals with nutrition, cooking, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene skills. Assist residents in community services, family interactions, telephone use, generic services, and public transportation. Assist and instruct residents with medication and money management. Participate in medication trainings and updates. May educate/assist individuals with scheduling medical appointments. Participates in gathering data for assessment of individuals' strengths and needs and provides feedback to the CRRS service team. Participates in the intra-disciplinary team meetings to report on residents' progress in meeting services goals and objectives. Maintain CRRS files and assist with monthly reports as directed by the program supervisor. Complete required individual program plans, assessments, progress records, and medication documentation. Assist in maintaining compliance with the CRRS 5310 Regulations. Assists in the general upkeep of the CRRS house and property to include the building, physical plant and grounds, fire protection and safety, living/sleeping quarters, furnishings and equipment, housekeeping, and maintenance. Adhere to fire and safety rules and regulations. Participate in monthly fire drills and make rapid decisions regarding immediate actions to be taken to ensure an individual's safety. Escort individuals safely to daytime/nighttime programming. Assists in the training process of new employees under the direction of the program supervisor. This position is required to attend trainings in the areas of medication, fire safety, first aid, CPR, and orientation and any other designated mandatory training or meeting to assure compliance with the Residential Regulations and/or Program Requirements. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Anthracite Heritage Museum showcases the story of Pennsylvania's hard coal and related industries, the historic immigrant culture of northeastern Pennsylvania, and the evolution of the region's culture. As an intern, you will work closely with museum staff to implement curatorial activities related to collections and exhibits. Work involves:
Participating in artifact cataloging
Researching and drafting responses to basic research inquiries
Assisting curators with Anthracite Heritage Museum inventory
Conducting basic research and installing small museum exhibits
Assisting curators with Argus public facing entries
Assisting with public tours and other education duties as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
10 week internship, May 2026 through August 2026, approximately 225 to 300 hours
Work hours are flexible and will be finalized between selected interns and their supervisor.

Internship Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled (either full-time OR part-time), at a college or university, in an undergraduate OR graduate program, at the time of your internship.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able and willing to report to Scranton, PA during the Summer Keystone Internship dates, which will be a 10-week period between May 11, 2026 and August 21, 2026. Lodging and transportation will not be provided.
You must be majoring, minoring or have a concentration in History, Public History, Museum Studies, Library and Information Sciences, Archeology, Anthropology, Material Culture, or closely related fields.
You must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
